Internship

Thank you in advance for allowing me to present my reasons for pursuing this internship. I already have eight years of hands-on experience in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay, I thoroughly enjoy the work, I have become proficient and skilled, and I am recognized as a very competent person by my peers and colleagues.

Having already achieved three different level II certification in non-destructive testing methods -- and having honed my leadership and mentoring skills -- I am most certainly ready and qualified to become part of the 16-week internship. It is gratifying to me that I have the opportunity now to take the next step and be certified to work alongside experienced Process Techs on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), which the internship will allow me to do.

My ultimate goal is to become a Pipeline Technician for the Alyeska Pipeline. I am the kind of person who takes my training and my education very seriously, who enjoys completing a task with precision and dexterity, and who makes the most of the chances I have been given in this life. Hence, I can be counted on to make the most out of the internship program, in the interest of being a valued member of the TAPS team, as well as in the interest of pursing my own career goals with clarity and energy.

As to my educational experiences, I attended and graduated from Parkin in the State of Arkansas, and currently I am enrolled in the University of Kenai Peninsula College. I will graduate with my A.A.S. In the spring of 2015. My major is Process Technology, and I have been a resident of Alaska now for 18 years. This state, with its stunning beauty, its employment opportunities, its hard-working people and its harsh winters, presents challenges that I thoroughly enjoy.

Thank you again for this opportunity, and as a dedicated person who learns quickly and is happy to mentor others who are just getting their start, I believe I fit in well and will perform with the utmost class and distinction during my internship.
