What is Bible?

The Bible is one of the most studied texts across multiple academic disciplines, including theology, religious studies, history, literature, and ethics. Students engage with it both as a sacred scripture and as a historical and literary document, making it a subject of rigorous scholarly inquiry. Its two major divisions — the Old Testament and the New Testament — raise distinct interpretive questions about authorship, context, canon, and meaning. Courses in Christian worldview, biblical hermeneutics, and church history regularly assign essays that ask students to analyze specific passages, evaluate theological claims, or situate biblical texts within broader cultural and historical frameworks.

Papers on this topic take a wide range of approaches. Some focus on close textual analysis of specific passages, such as the Daniel 9 prophecy or the flood narrative in Genesis, debating whether interpretations should be Christological or historically grounded. Others examine applied ethics, exploring what biblical teaching means for issues like divorce in Christian life. Historical and cultural approaches appear in essays on the Incarnation, while Roman Catholic theological interpretation receives attention as a distinct hermeneutical tradition. Some papers engage figures like William Apess to explore how biblical arguments have been used in social and racial contexts.

A strong essay on the Bible requires a clearly scoped thesis — broad claims about what "the Bible says" rarely hold up under scrutiny. Evidence should draw on specific verses, named books, and credible commentary rather than general assertion. Students should also engage seriously with interpretive method, since the same passage can support very different conclusions depending on the hermeneutical framework applied. The most common pitfall is treating the Bible as a uniform text without accounting for the distinct literary genres, historical contexts, and theological traditions each book represents.

The Enlightenment's intellectual preparation for Darwin's Origin of Species
Did the Enlightenment adequately prepare readers for the arrival of Charles Darwin's Origin of the Species? The paper argues that it did, by pursuing the analogy suggested in Darwin's own conclusion, comparing the theory of natural selection (and its attendant laws of nature) with Newton's theories of physics. It is concluded that what was most shocking about Darwin was not the threat he posed to biblical literalism or any form of creationism--since Darwin's conclusion makes reference to a creator--but the blow to human beings' pride as a species. By suggesting the Creator might operate by means of a process like natural selection, Darwin does not take God out of the picture, but he does make human beings seem a lot less significant (save for the fact that they are the only species that can think and argue about such issues).

The persuasive power of storytelling in organizations and human psychology
A tale of fictitious or real events or narrative is defined as a story. For our hungry souls, the nourishment is stories. Palatable stories exist due to these elements of truth. There are many ways to tell a story to the latest Hollywood blockbuster from classic novels written by the greatest writers and to ghost tales around a campfire from prehistoric drawings on a cave. Creating an environment in which everything is possible, the story teller is the magician. The pictures seen in the mind of the storyteller are shown and passed and for interpretation are passed to the minds of the listeners. Storytelling is all the rage in business. The persuasive effects of a story are only been able to speculate until recently. But, a serious study related to the human mind and the influences of a story in it has been begun by psychology over the last several decades. In fact, in comparison to writing, at changing beliefs fiction seems to be more effective as to persuade through evidence and arguments is the specific purpose of writing. The power of stories is finally waking up in organizations. In compare to the questionnaire and interviews based approach in organizations, the patterns of understanding, behavior and culture are revealed in a more effective way by stories. The ideation patterns of a particular organization are revealed by the stories told in an organization in all aspects of organization life, like, in project reviews and formally in presentations. The recognition of a possible work is integral to the evolution of a different and new world. However, potentiality for such a world is continuously claimed by the status quo. To bind us to this world, different truths are used by the status quo. The Telos of life is supposedly the survival. Therefore, a cosmology is required by any threat to the status quo so that a path and a view of a different world are provided to us for realizing this world. I believe that this cosmology is given to us by considering narrative as a way of being in the world as it fundamentally alters out relation to our own humanity, our relation to others and our relation to the world. The condition of our humanity is intertwined with the condition of the world by it. In total, a compelling narrative is derived by this emergent view of narrative as the realms of possibilities are enlarged by it.

Scholarly approaches to the Synoptic Problem and literary interdependence
Scholars have repeatedly stated that the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are linked together by various similarities. As such, the three writings have been united under the entitlement Synoptic Gospels. The majority of literary investigations rely on equivalences in content, style, and order of events being similar and frequent in the Synoptic Gospels to such extend that they appear vastly separated from John's.
