What is Cell?

The cell is the fundamental unit of life and a central subject across biological and biomedical sciences. Students encounter this topic in introductory biology, physiology, biochemistry, and genetics courses, as well as in more specialized fields like neuroscience and plant biology. What makes the cell academically compelling is its dual role as both a discrete structural unit and a dynamic system — one in which proteins, signaling pathways, and developmental processes interact in ways that have far-reaching implications for understanding health and disease. Topics like stem cell research, human cloning, Turner syndrome, and centrosomes in cancer illustrate how cellular biology connects foundational science to urgent ethical and medical questions.

Student papers on this topic take a range of approaches. Some focus on specific cell types or structures, such as cell junctions, artificial cells, or the adrenal gland, examining how form relates to function. Others adopt a systems perspective, exploring neuro signaling, plant physiology through ionomics, or the electrochemical behavior seen in voltaic and electrolytic cells. Comparative and descriptive analyses are common, with papers tracing how particular cellular processes develop, change, or break down across different biological contexts.

A strong essay on cells begins with a focused thesis that targets one process, structure, or debate rather than attempting to survey cellular biology broadly. Evidence drawn from physiological mechanisms, experimental findings, or well-documented case studies tends to carry the most weight. The most common pitfall is treating cells as static objects; effective essays consistently emphasize that cellular behavior is dynamic, context-dependent, and shaped by interactions among proteins, environment, and developmental stage.

Cryptosporidium parvum: pathogenesis, life cycle, and clinical significance
This work in writing is a case study of Cryptosporidium. Cryptosporidium is reported as a "coccidian protozoan parasite" and one that has received a great deal of attention over the past two decades as a "clinically important human pathogen." (Hannahs, nd, p.1) The discovery of Cryptosporidium is reported as associated with E.E. Tyzzer who described a "cell-associated organism in the gastric mucosa of mice" in 1907 as reported in the work of Keusch et al (1995). (Hannahs, nd, p.1) Cryptosporidium was believed for several decades to be a "rare, opportunistic animal pathogen". (Hannahs, nd, p.1) The first case of human cryptosporidiosis occurred in a three-year-old girl in rural Tennessee in 1976 suffering from severe gastroenteritis for two weeks and reported in the work of Flanigan and Soave (1993). Cryptosporidium parvum was discovered through use of an electronic microscopic examination of the intestinal mucosa. Cryptosporidium parvus was associated with AIDS cases in the 1980s and this resulted in renewed attention of this infection as a "ubiquitous human pathogen." (Hannahs, nd, p.1)

Meat consumption frequency and serum cholesterol levels in adults
Human heart is directly affected by the consumption of unhealthy diet. The major problem suffered by all heart patients is the cholesterol number. Intake of meat really matters when it comes to high cholesterol. Heart problems and cholesterol number vary with age; however gender does not make any difference. This study is based on description of relationship between meat intake and cholesterol number. It is assumed that number of meat meals per week is directly proportional to increase or decrease in the cholesterol level. A build up of cholesterol in the arteries can eventually stop blood flow and bring on a heart attack. People from an age group of 25 to 50 years are studied and the results will be analyzed on the basis of age, diet, cholesterol level and other diseases affecting each individual. We expect that the relationship between meat intake and cholesterol number also gets worse due to other factors such as smoking, less exercise, alcohol consumption; hence it can be improved if the respected person wants so. Keywords: heart, cholesterol number, diet, meat, cardiovascular heart disease.
