Social equity leadership conference
Social equity is a key issue of public administration and forms the basic theme of the 2013 "Social Equity Leadership Conference," in June. This white paper discusses the key goals of the conference based on the conference issue for social equity as global engagement and local responsibility. These are the issue facing social equity among domestic and global public leaders in public and private agencies in the education, immigration, transportation, environmental, policing and corrections sectors. A review of theories on public administration identifies that public leadership networking, collaboration, and cooperation with leaders and agencies is necessary. This is associated with public leadership practices like public policy development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, social equity, and public advocacy.
Reporting Near Misses Incidents
This paper provides a review and critique of Lauver, K. J. & Lester, S. (2009, Fall). Supervisor support and risk perception: Their relationship with unreported injuries and near misses. Journal of Managerial Issues, 21(3), 327-34, including a brief introduction to the article, the methodology used by the authors and a discussion concerning their findings including a limited justification and flaws in the research design.
Foucault and the Current Discourse
Michel Foucault, French philosopher, articulated The History of Sexuality (1976-1984) in three volumes: The Will to Knowledge, The Use of Pleasure and the Care of the Self. Purportedly, much of Foucault's focus was with power structures and how they related to each other. The following will examine the strengths and weaknesses of Foucault's work in understanding the current discourse on the subject.
