What is Israel?

Israel is one of the most studied nations in academic writing, appearing across disciplines including history, political science, religious studies, international relations, and gender studies. Its founding in 1948, its role in Middle Eastern geopolitics, and its complex relationship with Palestinian identity make it a rich subject for scholarly inquiry. The country sits at the intersection of ancient religious traditions and modern statehood, which means essays on Israel frequently require students to engage with theology, nationalism, and diplomacy simultaneously. Its centrality to ongoing conflicts and peace negotiations ensures that it remains a subject of genuine academic urgency.

Papers on this topic take a wide range of approaches. Historical analyses examine the establishment of the Israeli state and foundational events like the 1978 Camp David negotiations between Israel and Egypt. Political essays explore decision-making strategies, the effects of Zionism on the peace process, and contemporary issues in international relations involving the West Bank and Palestinian territories. Other papers take a religious or textual angle, addressing Israel's religious system at the time of Christ or prophetic traditions in ancient Judah and Israel. Some essays focus on social dimensions, such as the role of women in Israel's military or the sources of national identity among Israelis.

A strong essay on Israel begins with a clearly scoped thesis — broad claims about the entire conflict rarely hold up under scrutiny, so focusing on a specific period, policy, or dimension produces sharper arguments. Evidence drawn from historical treaties, demographic data, and documented political events carries the most weight. The most common pitfall is treating the topic as purely contemporary while ignoring the deep historical and religious context that shapes every modern dispute.

Shia political movements in Lebanon from the 1960s onward
Introduction Political chiefs (zucama) from a few powerful families dominated Shici politics into the 1960s and continued their control through extensive support networks. The authority of the zucama varied on their clients' support, but by the 1960s hundreds of young Shici men and women became estranged from old-style politics and were attracted by new political forces. The vision of radical change could only have been appealing to a community whose culture emphasized its exploitation and dispossession by the ruling elites. In Lebanon, as in Iraq, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, Shica in great numbers were recruited in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s to secular opposition parties. In Lebanon the resistance took the shape of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP), (Cooper & Erlanger, 2011) the Organization for Communist Labor Action, and pro-Syrian and pro-Iraqi factions of the Arab Socialist Bacth (or “Resurrection”) Party. Predominantly in the case of the Communist organizations and the SSNP, there was an intrinsic ideological pull towards parties that damned the tribal, religious, or cultural bases of discrimination (Mazetti & Shanker, 2012).

Race as a damaging illusion masking real sources of conflict
The concept of race has no place in today's globalizing world. In fact, it is a damaging illusion. Not only does the idea of race allow false beliefs to develop, but it allows the concept of "them against us" to develop.

This is a proposal for a PhD dissertation on the works of Harold Pinter. The dissertation will focus on Pinter's late political work, with a specific emphasis on seven plays written between the 1980s and the early 2000s. The proposal offers some specific detail about different approaches to contextualizing Pinter's politics, including a use of Pinter's own political writings, situating him with his theatrical contemporaries, situating him in the larger political landscape of post-fascist Europe and Britain in the later 20th century, and examining the political and aesthetic implications of various other work by Pinter (including his work as a stage director).

The Church's missionary function and biblical foundations for Christian evangelization
Abstract This paper will discuss various aspects of a biblical theology of mission. Two Old Testament and two New Testament references have been extracted which relate to the concept of mission, particularly, God's mission transferred unto his followers. Secondly, the nature of God is discussed in relation to mission, as God's plan and missionary purposes. Then, the Holy Trinity and ecclesiology is analyzed as two encompassing concepts of theology that relate to mission theology as well. Afterwards, the Kingdom of God and shalom, understood as both perfection in creation and peace, are discussed. Ultimately, we relate the interrelationship between mission theology and missionaries, mission theology and church leaders, and mission theology and lay people. Key terms: mission, Bible, evangelization, Trinity, shalom.

The Second Temple period: Jewish history, crises, and construction
There is no doubt in the fact that the Jewish Jerusalem despised the King Herod. The main reason for this hatred was that he hired informants and spies and other officials. However, there were some boundaries that Herod did not cross. He did not cross the Temple Mount and he did not order the placement of any foreign idols in the Temple. Apart from this, he also did not perform any pagan sacrifice in Jerusalem. Herod considered Jerusalem as his showcase and therefore he gave invitations to the significant personalities of Rome so that they could also view the splendor of the city.
