There are several key components to effective business and marketing strategy. Some of the most eminent of these are the prudent usage of creativity, innovation, as well as an appropriate design that customers and potential partners can relate to. This could help them address one of the biggest competitive threats they face -- the emergence of a competing gourmet store that can undercut their prices. In addition, an acquisition would provide Kudler Fine Foods with access to different markets -- they could utilize different formats suited for different areas. For example, acquiring smaller stores could give them the means to make a market like Del Mar succeed, which is not possible given Kudler's current format.
Merging with another organization brings many of the same benefits as an acquisition would. However, a merger might bring Kathy Kudler the opportunity to phase out of the industry and towards her retirement or other opportunities. Moreover, a merger opportunity would be with a larger company than an acquisition, so the advantages such as economies of scale would be greater compared with making an acquisition.
Demand for the product
After having conducted a study among the potential customers and having identified the target audience, Kudler Fine Food came to the conclusion that there was a great demand for healthy products among those interviewed. The target audience stated that they were constantly searching for new healthy food products on the market and believed the combination between health and Asian ingredients to be a much desired one.
The company thought it would be most cautious if during the first month they only produced half the requested quantity of salad and further on, based on the selling of the first month import more ingredients and place more salad on the market.

These are simply the strategies that help the sales staff know how it would go about achieving its targets. There is usually more than one strategy at work at any given time.
