Evolution of Image Identity in Spanish Films
Spanish films express societal customs and are mediums for infinite creative expression of several events in Spain's past history. In the history of film, Spain has seen the advent of several film makers who have produced works of universal quality and distinctive character. In addition, these films portray Spain's landscapes, cultures and people; a crucial element in understanding the Spanish history. Therefore, this paper highlights three films depicting the evolution of image identity is Spanish films after the Francoist era.
Young Goodman Brown Gilgamesh Beowulf Bless Me Ultima the Legend of King Arthur
An analysis of the male relationships in The Epic of Gilgamesh, Beowulf, and Young Goodman Brown. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu is created to restore or create balance in Uruk; Enkidu eventually inspires Gilgamesh to go on a quest for immortality and in the process contributes to his transformation; in Beowulf, Grendel is Beowulf's evil equal and must be destroyed in order to restore peace to Heorot--subsequently, Beowulf undergoes a transformation through each of his heroic quests that enable him to be a wise leader; in Young Goodman Brown, the Devil makes Goodman Brown realize that a balance of good and evil must be present in every individual in order to help them determine what is right and wrong, much to his dismay.
Count Dracula and Hannibal Lecter: Identity and Horror Compared
Many of the critics have observed comparisons that are among Hannibal Lecter and Dracula, a linking which Harris compounded in Hannibal Rising by creating Lecter, like Dracula, an Eastern European Count. Each characters share customs of malicious biting and a threateningly seductive attraction. A lot of Lecter's physical structures, for instance his burgundy tinted looking eyes which had sparked red when uncovered to light, his widow's top, and important wits (particularly smell), are also features of Dracula. This paper will discuss this contrast and differences of two men that shared the one quality that made then alike, living the life of killers and the things that motivated them to feed this terror.
