Personal Leadership Statement
Leadership is one of the most needed qualities and skills in today's world. Because of globalization, more and more diverse interests and cultures are coming into greater contact with one another. To reconcile these differences is the task of leadership (ondinelli & Heffron, 2009). Effective leadership can help society to realize the promises of such interactions while ineffective leadership is more likely to stoke such differences and amass power from the differences within society. This holds true for society as a whole as well as for different institutions within society such as religion, education, business and economy.
My personal leadership approach has been shaped by a variety of factors. My parental upbringing, socialization, inborn traits, formal education, interpersonal relationships, religion and exposure to the media have all contributed to shaping my perceptions of human beings, the relationships they share with one another, their interests and the potential…

Personal Leadership Platform
Henry Fayol, Mary Parker among other scholars in the field of management have described leadership as the act of getting thing done through others, this definition is consistent with the definition given by Carter et al. (2008, 3-4) who described leadership as the process of attaining organizational goals, of which these organizational goals are attained effectively and efficiently through the performance of certain tasks that includes planning, organizing staffing, directing and controlling. From a functional perspective leadership can be defined as the process of planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling organizational resources and activities so that goals can be accomplished effectively and efficiently.

Part Two: eflective Learning Summary
This reflection helped me become aware that my greatest weaknesses can be found in the very traits that I have always considered my greatest strengths. I have always prided myself on my perfectionist tendencies, and have even felt like people who complained about me being a perfectionist were simply lazy and unable to work up to the standards that I set. Because I always set higher standards for myself than I set for others, I did not believe that my standards were unreasonable. Even while writing this, I…

My ISTJ nature shows that I am internally focused. In order to improve my interpersonal skills by developing the aforementioned traits, I will need to shift my focus to the external world. I will need to actively consider the view points of my co-workers rather than imposing my own ideas on them (Thompson, 2006).
There are a few different options to me for developing these skills in the next 180 days. I can focus on the functional aspects of these skills. This would be easy to learn because I could utilize my abilities in vision development and planning to keep these skills at the forefront of my mind. The skills could then be learned by treating them as any other technical skill. Another option would place the learning emphasis on the underlying attitude of selflessness and focus on others. As the attitude develops, the functional skills will naturally flow from…

The nursing profession is about helping people. The nurse has an innate sense of caring for others and wanting to ease their suffering. This is the central reason why anyone wishes to become a nurse. Currently, a nursing shortage means that nurses can have a steady supply of places to work and currently some of the highest wages of any profession in the country. However, that is not a good reason to become a nurse. At the end of the day, with aching feet and an aching back, the nurse has to have another reason for doing what they do. The following will explore my personal vision and plan for developing my own leadership skills within the nursing profession.

personal leadership style depends on experience and self-awareness. "To thine own self be true" does not seem like a maxim relevant to leadership, but during our interview, Jane Carson described how personal integrity and honesty directly relates to leading a group. The informational interview conducted for this project focused on Ms. Carson's own leadership experiences and how they helped her develop a personal leadership philosophy. Echoing what the class textbooks outline about the various models of leadership, Ms. Carson described leadership as "an ability to organize and direct others to accomplish a specific goal." The marketing director of a local technology firm, Jane Carson needs to be goal-oriented in order to further her company's assets. But leadership is more than just delegating authority and keeping an eye on the bottom line: Ms. Carson clearly stated the need for personal integrity. Avoiding hypocrisy can be deceptively difficult when in positions of…
Key ethical beliefs and values about one's self and others
I am known as a socially aware leader, one who believes that the needs of society transcend the needs of any one person -- including myself. My idealism is also manifest in my style as a socially aware leader in that I believe the welfare of others, even when that may conflict with my own personal and economic self-interest, is more important. Of course, the greatest test of an idealistic, socially aware leader is when the leader's business or organizational goal conflicts with that of society. How to cope, for example, with working for an organization that causes environmental harm when one is an environmentalist?
Fortunately, I have never had to work with a company that placed me in such an uncomfortable ethical bind. I have tried to select organizations with whom I agree with, in terms of their overall…
Leadership solid understanding of the concepts and framework of leadership are essential for anyone in a position of leadership who hopes to develop as an effective and successful leader. In this paper, I will thoroughly investigate the concepts of leadership from a number of sources, including Terry Pearce's book, Leading Out Loud: The Authentic Speaker, the Credible Leader. Based on my understanding of these concepts, I will create a personal leadership communication platform for my position as an assistant principal.
Terry Pearce describes a framework for developing an effective platform for communication in leadership in Leading Out Loud: The Authentic Speaker, the Credible Leader. This platform includes five main components that Pearce feels are essential for success. These components are: 1) establishing competence, 2) building trust, 3) creating shared context, 4) declaring and describing a compelling future, and 5) committing.
First in the process of a framework for effective leadership…

Introduction
My personal leadership development plan is based my intention to use transformational leadership theory to promote healthcare-eldercare advocacy in my organizational behavior. As Shanks and Buchbinder (2012) show, “leadership development includes both formal and informal efforts” (p. 279). Completing courses online or at a university are formal ways to develop one’s leadership skills, while informal efforts can include anything from mentoring others to coaching and guiding staff members in new tasks or cross-discipline work. No matter the method employed, a personal leadership development plan should utilize a strategy for maximizing leadership effectiveness by implementing an appropriate theoretical support for the plan, recognizing one’s leadership strengths, correcting one’s leadership weaknesses, and identifying action items that will help close gaps between being the leader one is now and being the leader one seeks to become.

In order to accomplish this, I will need to in some ways "symbolize the norms" of what others expect (Wren 1995, pg. 188). This does note mean subsuming my identity, but making sure that I am more easily identified with than my mannerisms and extreme intellectualism sometimes allow.
How to ecognize Change
ecognizing change in oneself is supremely difficult, but there are tangible measures in leadership situations that can be used. The best way for me to tell if my expectations have fallen more in line with reality, for instance, would be to see how well and how easily my group accomplishes the set goals. If the goals seem to be creating an inordinate amount of stress and work, then it might be best to reduce expectations again. When it comes to changing the emotive content of my communication, asking a few trusted members of the team for their input…

Leadership
Type a versus Type B Leadership
The ability to guide and direct a group, department or entire organization is predicated on being able to balance task and relationship orientation through transformational leadership. The most effective leaders balance short-term transactional strategies for getting immediate results with transformational leadership skills, intermediating between each using emotional intelligence (EI) to guide their decision making (Ivey, Kline, 2010). The foundational elements of transformational leadership include individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation (Ismail, Mohamed, Sulaiman, Mohamad, Yusuf, 2011) and idealized influence. Transformational leaders are able to use situational awareness and EI to selectively apply each of these approaches at the most opportune time to get the best results (Ivey, Kline, 2010). The intent of this analysis is to evaluate how these techniques can be used for assessing scores from the Type A versus Type B tests taken. I received a score of 38 on Type…

Leadership
The Five Steps of Leadership
Strong leadership is the seed of a successful organization. Everyone can set goals and suffer through battles to achieve what one wants; however only one who figures out how to develop strong leadership from scratch and become skilled at decision-making and team-building, knows best how to play the card, and most likely will accomplish the full result.
The following concept presents the five common basis of leadership and how one can follow it as the process to achieve the goals.
You must know what you believe.
Knowing oneself is a total exploration to be a leader. During the journey to fulfill the challenge, one has to start somewhere. This means that the person needs to depart from a strong base, where he/she can define the most important values or goals he/she wants to accomplish in life. A list of clear focuses will help the…

Leadership Style
One of the most insightful things that I ever read about leadership and leading a group of people, is that "leadership is less about your needs, and more about the needs of the people and the organization you are leading" (wsj, 2014). I totally believe that effective leadership continually needs to be adapted to the needs and demands of a given situation, the needs of the people involved and the particular obstacles that face the group as a whole. I believe that ultimately, a good leader has a repertoire or a toolbox of different leadership styles that he or she can use when a specific situation calls for it. Having different leadership styles in this manner helps one to continually adapt more rapidly and specifically to particular situations, empowering one to apply the most relevant tactic. I consider my own personal leadership style to be a hybrid or…

Personal and Professional Accountability
Personal Growth and Development
The concept of professional nurse accountability has been defined by professional nursing bodies and nurse education credentialing bodies as an essential factor underpinning professional practice. As a nurse, I realize this fact and take accountability and responsibility for whatever behavior and actions exhibited, on my part, at the workplace. Moreover, I have understood the need to appraise myself, strive to improve my practice, and continuously fulfill learning outcomes I determine. Lastly, I attempt to sustain my physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing for being able to practice effectively (CRNC, 2017).
Ethical Conduct and Practice
In this profession, I have acquired skills to operate within the boundaries of my personal competence levels, the legally accepted practice scope, and every applicable law. Acting to support safe, ethical and proper patient care comes under my personal and professional nursing accountability as well (CRNC, 2017).

Leadership
Self-Analysis

Leadership has been one of the most studied, researched and theorize topic which has been evaluated, discussed and described by many theorists and scholars. Whereas the truth is that it's no theoretical phenomenon or rocket science. We all act as leader in different situations. Also, we all have different leadership styles and tactics of handling situations. Furthermore, as a leader, we are required to show different leadership skills as per the recipient. This is where the concept of situational leadership comes in. We studied this concept of leadership during our group activity which was performed to determine individual leadership style based on peer evaluation. Where this activity was intended to find out the leadership style; it was also helpful in finding out one's strengths and weaknesses as a leader.
The fundamental concept of leadership has changed to a limited extent over time however over time organizations, society…

The modern business environment has contributed to increased international operations by companies in attempts to enhance global presence and gain competitive advantage. However, international companies experience various challenges with regards to hiring and retaining employees in foreign countries or new cultures. As an individual spearheading a study in an international company, one of the major issues to address is determining the advantage or disadvantage of hiring locals or natives vs. sending present company employees for short periods of time and necessary training for those operations.
For the international company, sending present company employees for short periods of time is more beneficial than hiring locals or natives. This is primarily because the knowledge and skills required in the job in the host country are either in short supply or not present in the locals or natives. Moreover, the existing employees have adequate knowledge of…

personal philosophy of leadership. Address what role you feel a health care leader should play, what leadership theory they should follow, and why leaders should follow that theory.
My personal philosophy of leadership is that leaders need to remain strong and focused, decisive and relatively uninfluenced by their own or others' emotions. In healthcare, it is particularly important to apply evidence-based practice and rational thought to decisions, rather than rely on charismatic leaders to become figureheads in an organization or healthcare team. Increasingly, healthcare leaders rely on collaborative work environments where leadership philosophies that are collaborative and democratic prove most successful (Chriem, et al., 2013). Collaborative work environments occasionally rely on having a formal leader, but increasingly we are encountering shared power situations in which there is no one clear leader and in which each person's contributions are recognized as equal. This is true in some, but not all, healthcare…

History Of Leadership
Throughout much of history, leadership was viewed as an inherited position. It was rare that somebody would earn their way into a leadership position. Over time, a leadership model emerged that emphasized traits, and those who displayed those traits were funneled into a leadership system that, at best, worked on a linear hierarchy where tenure determined who held what position.
The major gains in leadership theory occurred when the study of leadership moved beyond these two concepts. By the 1940s and 50s, there was a move towards behavioral theories. Leaders weren't successful because of their traits, but because of the behaviors that existed, a concept that was similar but different. Behaviorism opened up the study of leadership, however. It was really the first theory that focused on emergent leadership over assigned leadership. It also began to separate the idea of management from that of leadership. That separation…

Leadership Trait Questionnaire (LTQ) is based on trait theory of leadership, which suggests that individuals possess specific personality or behavioral traits conducive to leadership like expressiveness, sensitivity, and determination. The questionnaire does not measure one's efficacy or effectiveness as a leader. ather, the questionnaire is designed to measure self-perceptions and perceptions of others. Because it takes into account both self-reports and the perceptions of others measured on the same scale, the LTQ is robust and reflects prevailing literature that shows that personality assessed using both self and observer ratings explains more variance in leadership than self ratings of personality alone," (Colbert, Judge, Choi & Wang, 2012, p. 670). Answers on the LTQ will reflect more about the leadership style one exhibits than one's innate abilities or prior successes as a leader.
Some of the qualities listed on the LTQ include self-confidence, trustworthiness, and sensitivity. Most of the qualities on the…

competencies important for successful modern leaders and relate to your own personal reflection, mission statement, vision, values and leadership goals.
The competencies important for successful modern leaders are Social Intelligence (SI), Emotional Intelligence (EI), Honesty, Transparency, Decisiveness, Curiosity, and Influence. Each of these is an essential characteristic of effective leaders. SI is good because it allows leaders to assess a social situation and see how it functions so that they can play to its strengths and develop its weaknesses. EI is good for helping a leader to be sensitive to others and to understand emotional cues that followers give. Honesty is important because without it there can be no trust. Transparency further helps to support trust among workers by showing there is nothing to hide. Decisiveness allows decisions to be made in a quick and efficient manner so that nothing gets too tied up in development. Curiosity is a great…

This essaydescribes the meaning of leadership and defines the characteristics and qualities of effective leaders. It discusses the manner in which leadership skills can be developed and assesses the importance of leadership in organizations seeking to achieve specific aims. Leadership styles, such as servant leadership and transformational leadership, are analyzed and qualities such as boldness, good judgment and emotional intelligence are examined to show how they support effective leadership. The paper concludes with a discussion of what leadership means to different people and how leadership styles can reflect an individuals own subjective take on leadership and how it should be demonstrated.

Qualities as an Authentic Leader
Authentic Leadership Self-Assessment Questionnaire has helped me measure the component comprising Authentic Leadership (Northouse, 2016). Thus, under self-awareness questions, I was aware of my strengths, limitations, how I influence others and how they view me as a leader. Transparency is an essential tool for me that have enabled me to reinforce my high leadership levels of openness with others in the organization. Therefore, this has given them an opportunity to be forthcoming with their opinions, challenges, and ideas. This aspect has gone a long way in solving company problems and hence, many are the times that a leader and his team work in getting solutions to a situation as a team. In today's business world, ethics is being advocated for and therefore, my ethical or moral aspect as a leader showed high degrees because I have set high moral and ethical standards of conduct in…

Gender-Leader Association and Qualities
From the data, it is evident that I have a "moderate association of Male with Career and Female with Family as compared to Female with Career and Male with Family." For this, the interpretation is described as an 'association between Female and Family' because I was faster when the names were classified as Males names with Career words, and Female names with Family words. To me, work has always been important, and I enjoy working with individuals of both sexes. The results of the questionnaire shocked me as I was expecting to have a strong association with Female and Family and Male and Career (Northouse, 2016). Nonetheless, I learned the importance of formulating a personal leadership philosophy, which looks at exercising civic responsibility. Therefore, as a leader, I need to take action and engage others in making positive differences for the common good. This philosophy has…

Personal Leadership Platform
A leadership platform is a complex concept. The questions expanded my thinking into not only what I want to be as a leader, but also why those convictions are important. As a new marketing manager, I think this is a valuable activity to examine my beliefs and values of what my leadership should represent.
Purpose of Leadership
The simple purpose of leadership is to lead a group with a common goal. The true question is what a leader must possess in order to carry out the process of achieving a common goal. A leader must understand the big picture of the organization and the way the smaller parts work together to help achieve the overarching goals. Additionally, he/she must understand the strengths and weaknesses of an organization. Using data, leaders must work with those they lead to develop goals for company improvement. The leader is responsible for…

1. Identify the leadership theory that defines your style and explain whyThe leadership theories of transformation leadership and servant leadership heavily influence my style of management. I have developed both of these leadership styles through my extensive leadership in the United States Navy along with other government positions. With over 20 years of experience in the Navy, I have developed a comprehensive leadership skill set that can be leveraged in a variety of situations and circumstances. To begin, the concept of servant leadership involves showcasing to others the traits you, as a leader, would like them to exhibit on a day to day basis. This often involves working alongside subordinates, providing support during daily activities, and eliciting the opinions of other to improve internal processes. As a soldier in the military, this was a critical component to success. Here, all Navy personnel were required to work together in various capacities for…
A philosophy of leadership provides the set of guiding principles throughout the initial US Army Military Training, establishing the framework and foundation from which I will develop a cohesive and strong leader identity. One of the main purposes of cultivating a leadership philosophy now is to determine the set of values from which I will not waver, even as circumstances and situations require flexibility in my responses and creative thinking in my decisions. Another purpose of developing a philosophy of leadership now is that it will allow me to empower others, inspiring them to also rise to every occasion as military leaders. My philosophy of leadership will also enhance my self-concept, as I improve my communications competencies. Strong military leaders are able to provide constructive feedback and support, inspiring trust and raising morale. As an emerging leader, I intend to be at the forefront of change, helping others to remove…
door to the county jail shut behind me with a loud clang. Involuntarily jumping from the sound and the sudden silence that followed, I shadowed the public defender down the dismal hallway. A fluorescent light bulb flickered overhead. My heart started to pound and I earnestly wondered if I had made the right choice for what must have been the fifth time that day. At that moment, I still had the opportunity to run away, to tell the attorney that I was not yet ready for this kind of responsibility, and that I appreciated his consideration anyway. I was too afraid to be weak to say anything, though, and instead I just remembered the mindfulness technique my counselor taught me and started to breathe. Just. A. Little. Slower. We reached the doorway, and through the long, skinny window I could see inside the classroom filled with the young inmates. I…
Personal Model of Ethical Leadership
Leadership has been defined as the "procedure of social influence where a person is able to enlist the aid and support of others in the achievement of a common task" (Jam, 2012). Leadership is something that remains as one of the most appropriate features of the organizational context. A leader is an individual who influences a group of people in the direction of a specific result. It is not really dependent on title or official authority. Leaders are normally recognized by their volume for caring for others, clear communication, and a commitment to persevere. Some experts believe that good leaders are made not born and others say the opposite. Some leaders have the belief that when people have the willpower and desire, then they can become an effective leader. Some managers even mention that a good leader develops through a never ending procedure of self-study,…

I see that in my own leadership style I am oriented towards a transactional style, but that in order to improve my leadership I need to weave the daily leadership actions together better with an eye to creating long-term organizational excellence. I feel that I have developed strong communications skills and healthy leadership traits in terms of being rational but also being able to deal with the emotional elements of the job. I perhaps struggle a little at listening, but I also can be short-sighted with my decision-making, such that months or years later I find my decisions have set an undesirable tone that must be corrected. These are the most significant deficiencies between the leader I am and the leader I wish to become.
Long-term strategy can also be considered somewhat of a weakness. There is certainly a gap between the specificity of long-term strategies that the organization has…

Leadership
Technical, interpersonal, and conceptual skills
Interpersonal skills entail knowing how to interact with others. No employee desires to have a boss who is inconsiderate or rude or one who has poor human skills. All these could reduce productivity and employee morale. Managers with effective human skills tend to have subordinates who have positive attitudes and strong desires to increase productivity. Managers are always expected in any organization to have harmonious relationships with those below them like supervisors, peers, and subordinates (Yukl, 2012).
Conceptual skills refer to an individual's aptitude to formulate ideas. These skills include formulating abstractions, thinking creatively, understanding issues, solving problems, and analyzing complex situations. Within the business context, these skills are viewed as integral prerequisites for top executive positions. Conceptual skills differ from technical skills and interpersonal skills. The three types of skills assume vital roles for certain purposes and in certain situations. However, conceptual skills…

Leadership: Enhancing Lessons Experience
According to Johnson, & Giorgis (2002), Leadership is the process in which an individual influences actions of others towards common goals, Formulates policies, strategies, and influence people towards achievement of the same strategies. Over the past decades, various changes in the world have led to various definitions of leadership. The fall of the Soviet Union, globalization and various advances have changed the world we knew. A woman in leadership positions is a new phenomenon; various leadership trainings are available, and leadership as a skill is now an asset for professionals. For African Universities to ensure knowledge transfer and observing millennium development goals, a good leadership structure is essential. A leader has exception skills and acts outrageously to situations (Padam, 2009).
Scholars have advanced various theories on leadership. Leaders' Individual personal attributes beat explains the trait theory, when one looks closely at Mahatma Gandhi and Hitler it…

Leadership for Organizations
Leadership
The success of organizations and individuals' careers are influenced by the role of leaders. Nowadays firms seek leadership skills in individuals for all sorts of careers while recruiting. Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) believe that it has become critically important to nurture leadership approach at all levels of the organization (Lussier, Achua, 2009, p. 4).
The topic of leadership has been gaining tremendous attention of academic world and media (ass, Riggio, 2006, p. 17). Many experts have written about leadership and the challenges related to it as the subject is highly valued and at the same time a complex phenomenon (Northouse, 2009, p. 1).
In today's world individuals need to develop skills and capabilities required in professional world through personal development. They need to assess their strengths, weaknesses, leadership competencies and goals in order to achieve leadership capabilities (Rothstein 2010).
Leaders need to possess a wide range…

Leadership is a complex process involving the ability of an individual to inspire, motivate and redirect ways of thinking. It refers to the ability to bring out the best in oneself and others. In any set up, there must be rules and regulations to guide the relationships between people and activities. In a set up like an organization, there are goals and objectives that the organization aims to achieve. These objectives and targets rely on the ability of a leader to organize and direct activities towards their attainment. Leadership is the ability of one individual to stir the sentiments and behaviors of others towards the achievement of the set goals. The leader does this by transforming the goals to be a common goal to others.

Leadership and Realtors
I have many aspirations and many things I would like to accomplish in my lifetime. That said, one of my strongest vocations is establishing myself in my community as a successful real estate agent.
I've always had a knack for sales and I love architecture and residential construction. But my affinity for real estate probably dates back to my childhood, when my uncle Herbie used to drive me around in his big tan Buick Skylark, taking me to all his listings so I could see how he showcased his properties. My uncle Herbie used to make me guess how much he had listed each property for, if I was wrong, he would wonk me on the head with this old leather scabbard he had in the back seat, if I was right, he would give me a piece of salt-water taffy. Long story short, I've wanted to…

Leadership Choice: Designing Climates of Blame or esponsibility
In E. Grady Bogue's book The Leadership Choice: Designing Climates of Blame or esponsibility, the author addresses the impact that self-knowledge can have on a person's life and career. In other words, the way a person acts in his or her personal life is often directly related to the way a person acts in his or her professional life. The morals, opinions, and beliefs held by a person are not generally confined to one area of that individual's life. They are spread across all of the areas of life and designed to be used by that person in many different ways. When a leader has opinions and beliefs, those are generally included in that leader's personal and professional lives, and it may be very difficult to keep them separate. Most people would likely question why anyone would want or need to keep…

Leadership is a process that helps in directing and mobilizing people. It has for the past 100 years been a subject of many studies. These studies have come up with theories of the nature and exercise of leadership. Some of these theories include trait theories of leadership, theories of emergent leadership, leadership style theories, psychodynamic theories, and the path goal theories among others. The second section of this paper focuses on evaluation of behavior of selected leaders. Leaders of different organizations exhibit specific behaviors that are in line with models and theories of leadership. Their behaviors can guide the behavior of individual followers, groups, or even teams. The analysis section touches on how leaders perceive their roles and what makes them develop as leaders. The summary wraps up all that the paper is about and what I have learnt.

Hewlett Packard (HP) remains one of the most successful computer and related services company in the Diversified Computer Systems industry. In this text, I concern myself with the leadership style of Meg Whitman -- the CEO of HP. In so doing, I will amongst other things analyze how her leadership style aligns with the company's culture. I will also examine Whitman's strengths, weaknesses as well as personal and organizational values.
Born in 1956, Whitman has over the years earned herself an enviable reputation as an efficient and brilliant corporate executive keen on making a mark in a corporate environment dominated by men. Having cut her teeth at Hasbro, Stride ite, Disney, and most notably eBay where served as CEO for a decade, Whitman rose to become the head of HP. She has also in the past tried her hand in…

Leadership
Two of the most pressing issues in corporate leadership today include gender equality and labor rights. In "Women See Slow Progress in Leadership," Gay (2013) cites numerous empirical studies showing that the glass ceiling remains nearly impenetrable at the highest levels of management. The report cites the work-life balance ideal as the most common reason offered for why many women are either opting out of the CEO lifestyle, or are not considered ready or willing to handle the challenges and pressures of senior leadership.
In "The Best etail Companies to Work for ight Now," Smith (2013) describes Costco's approach toward human resources management. Leadership
True leadership
A leader is someone who has the ability to influence others in order to achieve a common goal. A true leader for that matter is one who does not have selfish interests but the interests of those whom he or she relates with (Dr. Woodroffe Noel, 2012). This best describes John Wesley, the founder of 'youth with a mission'.
Considering the fact that the organization mostly dealt with people from all walks of life and in a foreign land; which meant having to cope with language and cultural barrier, John Wesley with the help of his professional team managed to bring the youth together in an effort to eradicate abuse of drugs which was quite rampant in that society among other vices. Not even his retirement has deterred his team from pursuing to accomplish the core mission of zero tolerance on the mentioned vices. This is true…

Leadership behaviors
According to Fiedler, the character of the leader determines the ultimate outcome of all forms of decision-making within the organization. Different leaders perceive different situations in different ways: "the key situational factor is the favorableness of the situation from the leader's point-of-view. This factor is determined by leader-member relations, task structure, and position power" (Fielder 1). In other words, whether the followers need direction; the flexibility demanded of the task; and the leader's degree of control over the situation will all influence the methods by which the leader exercises his or her capacity to wield power.
To some extent, I do agree with LPC theory, given that in my own experiences, I have seen many leaders be effective with various personality types. In the case of a workforce which is highly under-motivated (such as a fast food restaurant), a very rigid leader who uses a…
e. leadership (Pruyne, 2001, p. 6), but also that "determining how to abstract a set of leadership concepts that apply across contexts without sacrificing an understanding of how the conditions and qualities involved in leadership vary among those same contexts" remained elusive (Pruyne, 2001, p. 7). Experts provided extended series of examples, mostly from the 20th century, demonstrating how leadership characteristics change over time and vary with context. Therefore future, 21st-century leaders should learn from the confused, sometimes contradictory and still evolving historical development of the concept "leadership," in order to distill the useful concepts from mistakes and temporary analytical fads. What seems to persist from the development of leadership theory over the last three centuries, is that leaders can be made rather than born regardless of inherited socio-economic status, and that while certain traits may be more prominent or apparent in those who find themselves in positions of leadership…

Leadership
Defining an Ethical Leader
Jeffrey Immelt, General Electric
The nature of leadership is multifaceted and often requires the continual mastery of new skills, insights, intelligence and perspectives to stay effective over the long-term. Such is the nature of ethical leadership, which requires a steadfast focus on a core set of ethical principles and values that guide a leader's judgment, ensuring consistency over the long-term. These are also the fundamental aspects of any leader's long-term credibility as well, and their ability to transform their enterprises over the long-term as well (John, 2005). Ethical leaders often resonate with credibility and the willingness to also change quickly in response to the needs of their organizations, employees, stakeholders and customers.
The purpose of this analysis is to define what an ethical leader is, how managers can progress to being more ethical in their leadership style, and how Jeff Immelt, CEO of general Electric,…

Leadership Research
Leadership in public and private sector businesses is important for the growth of these businesses. Of late, many researchers have thoroughly investigated the role leadership in promoting businesses. Researchers have also tried to explore the common characteristics of global business leaders that have led their businesses to successful heights. Different models of effective leadership in corporations have also been drafted. One major aspect of leaders being explored in their ability to inspire people surrounding them and use this inspiration to achieve results that could be achieved without having complete trust of followers. While followers might be hard to make for a leader, and yet harder to retain, few researchers have put forth consolidated models of inspirational leaders that effectively make and retain followers.…

Sustainability in Leadership
Current global occurrences have posed a great challenge to the continued existence of living things on earth. At this stage in the history of man, humanity is struggling with a lot of challenges; and these challenges are not restricted to region or race. Problems associated with climate change, increased rate of poverty, inconsistent democracy, and lack of justice and fairness in society are common to all nations. At this critical moment, there becomes a vacuum to be filled with urgency by leaders whose sole desire and purpose is to salvage the earth from total destruction. The world needs leaders who possess strategies to effectively combat these challenges and lead their followers into lifestyles that are self-sustaining. Leaders who could bring about this much needed sustainability to our environments are regarded as Sustainability Leaders.

Leadership and Management Training Guide:
Leadership and management are terms that have been used interchangeably as many people assume that they are similar despite of their fundamental differences. The main reason attributed to this trend is the fact that these concepts must go hand in hand because they are complementary and linked together. Actually, attempts to separate leadership and management always contribute to several problems more than it solves. However, much has been written regarding the importance and difference between leadership and management. The effectiveness of managers and leadership abilities in a management team basically depends on their understanding of the differences between the two.
Differences in Leadership and Management:
Effective leaders and managers have become necessary for the successful operation of teams, organizations, and groups. This is because of the similarities and differences that exist between leadership and management for effective functioning of each. Leadership is basically described as…

Leadership Application
The life and success of any organization is hinged on the leadership of that organization. An effective can transform the potential an organization has with regard to human capital and the available resources into a reality. An effective leader has the ability to propose new paradigms when old ones have become ineffective (IAAP, 2009). Effective leaders can change the minds of their followers and in the process make an organization achieve its identified goals. This paper seeks to illuminate whether the leadership at our procurement department is effective from the perspectives of the situational leadership and contingency theory approaches. The paper establishes whether the leadership and the procurement department were directive or supportive. The paper finally captures the insights that have been gained from analyzing the leadership at the procurement department.
The leader I worked with at the procurement department knew his goals and had the power to…

Leadership in Nursing
Excellence in leadership is an inherently innate skill set that over time emerges in the attitude, commitment and performance of subordinates. It is also reflected in how a given business unit or department coordinate, collaborates and trusts each other (Cohen, 2013). Compounding these factors are the often complex, highly intricate and often challenging aspects of managing and leading a nursing department (Swearingen, Liberman, 2004). The stresses and requirements of nursing leadership serve as a catalyst that accelerates leadership skills in nurse leaders. The challenges of orchestrating and leading a department are in many ways a crucible that leads to stronger nurse leaders capable of overcoming challenges and continually growing over time (Wong, Cummings, 2009). The most effective transformational leaders know how and when to rely on individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation and idealized influence (ao, 2013). Taken together these are the attributes that are essential for…

Personal Model of Leadership
The modern business environment has significantly diversified, in order to adapt to the changes determined by globalization. Given the situation, the importance of the role of leaders has also increased. This determined theorists' and practitioners' interest in leadership studies that are able to provide some guidelines regarding the manner in which leaders should behave.
The challenge is represented by the fact that the leadership models presented by the literature in the field and by the business practice lead to the assumption that these leadership models are unable to respond to the changing business environment (Clawson, 2010). In other words, leaders must trust their instincts and knowledge when establishing the leadership model they should follow. Such leaders should also take into consideration successful leadership models, no matter the field the leaders in case addressed. This is because the values encouraged by a leader in politics can be…

Personal Power
Identify your greatest areas of personal power.
My greatest areas of personal power lie primarily in my ability to elicit the collaboration of others. This skill is particularly important in building both a rapport and a consensus with workers. Being able to relate and understand the needs of the individuals in which you manage is the cornerstone of personal power. In addition, my ability to clearly communicate why particular action is needed is a personal power strength. In regards to both leadership, and personal power, communications skills are integral to success. The ability to articulate a clear vision, the direction that will be needed to accomplish the vision, and how each individual member can help accomplish the goal, all facilitate personal power.
Organizations are now becoming more global in their overall scope of business operations. As such, leaders who exhibit strong personal power must apply it to an…
