What is Physics?

Physics is the branch of science concerned with understanding matter, energy, motion, and the fundamental forces that govern nature. It appears across a wide range of academic courses, from introductory science surveys to specialized engineering and philosophy of science programs. The field spans an enormous timeline, from Aristotle's early inquiries into form and matter to modern theoretical and experimental work, making it intellectually rich territory for students asked to explain how the physical world operates. Its questions are foundational: how light behaves, how objects move, how matter is structured, and whether life exists beyond Earth.

Student papers on this topic take genuinely varied approaches. Some are historically oriented, examining figures such as Niels Bohr or landmark experiments like the Michelson experiment for measuring light. Others are applied and case-study driven, analyzing the physics of missile flight, drag effects on swimmer performance, or the mechanics of treadle irrigation pumps. Still others explore broader scientific and cultural territory, covering missions to Mars, frequency allocation, or the search for extraterrestrial life, showing that physics intersects with technology, policy, and astronomy alike.

A strong physics essay begins with a clearly scoped thesis — one that commits to explaining a specific phenomenon, evaluating a theory, or analyzing a real-world application rather than surveying the discipline in general terms. Evidence that carries weight includes precise scientific principles, experimental data, and well-sourced technical detail. The most common pitfall is treating physics as a catalog of facts; the best papers use those facts to build and support an actual argument about how or why something in the natural world works the way it does.

Music and Politics: The Argentine Tango's Cultural Roots
The tango is a form of dancing that originates in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is a popular dance form that has spread internationally since its inception in the early nineteenth century. As with all cultural forms, there is a distinctive history and style that accompanies this form of expression. The very creation and performance of tango are political acts. The tango flourishes in South America and in Europe. The tango culture is also quite popular in North American and Asia. There are, for example, multiple tango festivals that occur in Turkey, a country that is both in Asia and in Europe. The paper will discuss the cultural expression of tango, a form of music and dance, as well as the political circumstances under which it was created and the ones it expresses.

Popper vs. Kuhn: Falsifiability and the Demarcation Problem
This paper explains Karl Popper's philosophy of science, and his notion of 'falsification.' A scientific theory, according to Popper, rests on empirical evidence and the fact that it has not yet been falsified. Popper's stringent definition of what constitutes science eliminates psychoanalysis and most social sciences from his definition of 'real science.' The paper then compares Popper's view with Kuhn's notion of scientific advances as culturally generated.

Youth Unemployment in Armenia: Causes and Research Proposal
Youth unemployment rates in Armenia are at an all-time high, but what is leading to its increase? Unemployment rates in countries are defined by individuals who are currently jobless but are seeking active employment within the last four weeks (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2009). It is particularly interesting to see such a high youth unemployment rate because statistics show that the general unemployment rate within adults in Armenia has decreased from 7.1% in 2007 to 5.9% in 2011 (Index Mundi, 2012) yet unemployment amongst the youth contuse unabated and shows no tendency to decline. Several negative things are correlated with youth unemployment. Examples in this include preventions of socializations in the labor market which lead to negative social consequences, cycles of dependence on parents and an increased likelihood of drug and or alcohol consumption (World Bank, 2007). The following paper will investigate possible results of unemployment in youth unemployment in Armenia and propose to test whether these variables still exist and, if so, to which extent.

Is the World Ordered by Superhuman Intelligence? A Bostrom Analysis
There is very little evidence that indicates tha the world is currently under the sway and orderings of some sort of super-human intelligence. In fact, some of the most recent evidence to date on this topic suggests that such plans are likely to manifest in the future, not the present. There are several sources which corroborate these facts.

Social Justice Advocacy as a Fifth Force in Counseling Psychology
Social advocacy has been described by some counseling theorists as a "fifth force" paradigm that should be considered to rival if not replace other major counseling psychology paradigms regarding behavior and mental illness (Ratts, 2009). This paper briefly discusses what social justice/advocacy is, the debate regarding its status as a paradigm in counseling psychology, and how social advocacy can enhance both the client's experience and life and the professional counselor's personal, professional, and ethical obligations to helping others.

The Past, Present, and Future of Radiology and X-Ray Technologists
By tracing the historical development of radiography as a distinct field of diagnostic treatment, along with the evolving role of X-ray technologists in the delivery of quality health care within the public hospital/private practice model, it is possible to identify the attributes of this field that make it a foundational science within the practice of modern medicine. The ever-expanding ranks of X-ray technologists now serve a variety of essential functions within the health care delivery system, assisting in the cutting edge diagnostic assessment process that has improved patient acuity rates so drastically since the discovery of X-rays in the late 19th century. This paper will trace the development of radiography, radiology, and X-ray technologists within the medicinal realm, including a review of the field's past, present and future and the implications of this science for the further improvement of positive patient outcomes through preventative medicine.
