Contemporary issues explored through news articles
The paper will highlight important organizational issues. The issues will be highlighted with the help of a news article and a journal article. Two of the most important issues that will be highlighted in the paper include security issues created by a selected organization and second important issue is linked to the economics and rising costs of trade in second era of globalization.
Security Issues and Apple Inc.
An important news article published online by New York Times has mentioned an irresponsible act being committed by Apple Inc. that has, to date, cost many human lives. The article has mentioned that Foxconn is the main supplier for Apple Inc., which yet has not signed any official contract with Apple Inc. for being a long time supplier. Foxconn is known to be one of the best manufacturers and electric equipment assembler. Renowned companies for which Foxconn has been working as a supplier include Dell and HP. The article has mentioned that Foxconn and Apple Inc. are well known organizations and yet these are involved in ignoring the rights of the workers/labor working at the Foxconn factories assembling and cleaning Apple Inc.'s iPads and iPhones. Based on the ignorance of the organizations at both ends, the article has mentioned that there have been two blasts in the factory causing the deaths of many workers at the factory (Duhigg, and Barboza, 2012).
Database security principles and implementation
In the peer-reviewed article and research that comprise Security Issues and Features of Database Management Systems (Feeney, 1986) the author creates a taxonomy and framework to support his contention that while a distributed database architecture creates new security problems or challenges, these can be met and overcome through use of three core technologies. The author also provides insights into how the traditional database management systems (DBMS) taxonomies and data structures will also be expanded to support user identification and authorization across entire network-based platforms. The author covers the existing areas of user identification and authorization, incorporating an analysis of how views and assertions in database architecture have the potential to authenticate network-based users globally. While the author only briefly touches on the area of role-based authentication throughout a network, there is significant potential for that area for future research. In addition, the author mentions the area of access rules and grant rights, providing examples of how to they are used in single-instance database deployments. These concepts can potentially be extrapolated to broader, more enterprise-wise security strategy using broader database architectures based on the data provided in this article.
