Self-Reflection and the Philosophical Mirror

The female is very much goal-oriented. One might say that she is an over-achiever. She has two major, music and biology, although she admits that she only socializes and is friends with the music students.

Nursing has for far too long been a profession in which the professionals involved (that is, the nurses) have been expected to value obedience over their own experience and expertise. That has changed dramatically in the last generation of nursing, due in part to a nursing shortage that has required the medical profession to reassess and thus to acknowledge the importance of nurses to the overall state of patient care. Other factors that have changed the ways in which nursing is conceptualized is the changing nature of medicine as a field in general (especially the increase in high-tech approaches) and the ways in which nurses are trained and educated.

This essay is a comparative essay that compares two books about poverty. Shipler's The Working Poor and Walls' The Glass Castle are used to help demonstrate how poverty requires social workers' empathetic attention in order to properly address the issues in a useful manner. The essay concludes by preferring Walls' work over Shipler's for philosophical reasons.

I scored low for the categories "Model the Way", "Inspire a Shared Vision" and "Encourage the Heart." I'm extremely aware of the fact that when it comes to education, leading by example is one of the most effective things that one can do. This is why I was disturbed by the fact that I scored low on "modeling the way" and want to work hard to improve this. According to Kouzes and Posner, the key to modeling the way revolves around setting an example by acting in manners that are consistent with collective values and the act of achieving small wins that foster regular progress and help commitment to grow. By acting like a balanced, kind, and dedicated athlete myself, who's not afraid of rigorous training or hard work, I can inspire these actions within my students as well.

The paper is a individual development paper and looks into various Theories of development and the applicability in the real life. Of greatest interest here is the Erick Erikson theory of development the gives an outline of 8 stages that a human being passes through. The self reflection is based on this theory and a personal account of this experience.
