What is United States?

The United States is one of the most frequently studied subjects across academic disciplines, appearing in courses ranging from economics and political science to criminal justice, public health, and business management. Its scale, institutional complexity, and global influence make it a productive focus for analysis at almost every level of study. Papers on this topic engage with the country as both a case study and a broader reference point, examining how American institutions, markets, and policies function and what consequences they produce for society.

The archived papers on this subject reflect a wide range of approaches. Some take a macroeconomic angle, examining fiscal and monetary policy alongside the broader economic history of America and the development of economic society. Others focus on specific industries or organizations, including manufacturing process design, labor relations, and corporate financial analysis. Policy-oriented work addresses issues such as the future of health care delivery and corrections systems, while historically grounded papers examine political speeches and events, including Lyndon B. Johnson's "Let Us Continue" address and the road to 9/11 as documented through Al Qaeda's rise. Ethical and cultural dimensions also appear, with papers covering topics like steroid use in baseball and shifting consumer markets.

A strong essay on the United States benefits from a tightly scoped thesis that addresses a specific institution, policy, event, or industry rather than the country in general terms. Evidence drawn from primary sources, government data, and concrete case examples carries the most weight. A common pitfall is treating "America" as a monolithic subject — strong essays acknowledge variation across regions, industries, or time periods to support more precise and defensible claims.

Best Buy's organizational structure and retail evolution from Sound of Music
Best Buy began its operations in 1966 by founder Richard M. Shulze. The company started its operations by a single radio shop called "The Sound of Music." By 1970, Sound of music was already successful and earning annual revenues exceeding one million dollars. The company was selling asa radio and Hi-Fi stereo and maintained a good status, until 1981 when a tornado hit one of the original stores. Tornodo damages its inventory. Inventory was sold from piles in the wrecked stores, it is known as the "Tornado sale," which became an annual event. Intrigued by the idea of selling things in a more non-traditional way, Shulze decided to change the company's name to Best Buy Co. and simply put product out on the shelf for customers to buy instead of behind a glass counter. This idea would find huge success and in a few decades time Best Buy Co. would become the electronics retail giant it is today.

Workforce planning strategy and implementation at Petco
Organizations today are formed on an on-going assumption, which emphasizes that a particular organization is formed with an aim to operate forever. Hence the organizations are well versed with the tactics and strategies that will facilitate their way to function profitably in the long run. In the similar context the organizations are also aware of the fact that they may engage in capital investments and may erect spacious and beautiful buildings but if they do not have the right kind of individuals orchestrating in the rhythm of organizational success the organization will perish ultimately. Work force planning is a similar human resource tool that facilitates an organization long term accomplishment and sustainability. Work force planning is in fact a systematic approach that is used for identifying and addressing calculated gaps or discrepancies of the availability of human resources currently available with respect to the future needs and anticipated skill of the human resource needed to cater the future challenges of an organization. Subsequently the human resource planning forms the summative pillar of organization's success and strategic decision making.

My sister's borderline personality disorder and its impact
A person in my life who struggles with one of the neuropsychological disorders that we have studied in this module is my sister who has borderline personality disorder. Some clinicians have misdiagnosed her with bipolar disease and apparently that's a common mistake, both conditions do share unstable moods and impulsive actions (Kreger, 2010). Both conditions can experience psychotic behavior though the individuals with bipolar disorder generally have the same manifestations, "Manic individuals experience elevated levels of euphoria. Self esteem and feelings of grandiosity are abnormally elevated and may result in psychoses such as delusions and hallucinations…The individual may show poor judgment in spending money, may become hypersexual, or may make poor business commitments. Other hallmarks of mania are excessive rapid, loud and pressurized speech. The manic person quickly skips from one topic to another and is easily distracted both when thinking and when performing tasks" (Takahashi, 2006).
