Medea is shunned by Jason's court as a foreigner, even before he casts her off, and his careless treatment of her should have proved a warning. Likewise, although Hester is sympathetic, she knew her relationship with Dimmesdale was illicit, and that he was a weak man. Finally, in the "Inferno" when God created hell, he surely knew Man would sin, even though he also gave humanity free will. The looming specter of betrayal in a dangerous and mendacious world is often obvious. Just like when God forbade Eve to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, when there is an obligation there is also the corresponding temptation to flout that obligation, a temptation seemingly ingrained within the human heart. All of the obligations outlined above are formal obligations, either contractual like a marriage, or so sacred, like the bonds of obedience one owes to...

...

These obligations hold society together, but because human nature is fallible, and most of these obligations are ultimately unenforceable, the social bonds the obligations were meant to forge are broken.
The result is violence -- but not the type of violence that is coolly inflicted by the hand of the law. Instead, it is a violence of disorder and misrule. The most horrific example of this is Medea's infanticide, but in all of the cases of transgression, it is not simply the perpetrators who are hurt. The royal house of Denmark is destroyed, a houseful of young men die as well as Odysseus' crew, a New England community is torn apart -- everyone suffers when an act of betrayal occurs. Thus both betrayal and the cycle of violence are interlinked and are seemingly inevitable.

Ultimately, Lady Lazarus uses her status as a failed suicide as a source of power, not disempowerment. The haunting words of the end of the tale that she is a woman who eats men like air are meant to underline the fact that despite the fact that the doctors feel that they are the source of her coming to life again and again, there is a strength of spirit within

Ethan is now 'married' to Maggie, but not in the way he desired -- he now effectively has two wives who cannot love him or escape the family house, rather than three. The existence for all three is a miserable one, and the women suffer as much as Ethan as they battle amongst one another. The greatest humor of the novel is exhibited when Zeena is suddenly able to find

Through policies of systematic discrimination and persecution of national minorities, Serb nationalists indirectly strengthened the radical wing of Albanian nationalist movements. The wing was represented by KSA (Kosovo Liberation Army). Most of the KSA leadership, Hedges writes, has formerly been imprisoned for separatist activities, and many were imprisoned by the Tito's communist government. The KSA's ideological base, Hedges writes, comes from a bizarre mixture of fascist and communist factions.

It is this lead character's outrage that drives the plot, rather than any journey of self-discovery or some fateful intervention. This is seen when Antigone declares her defiance of the king: "I will bury him myself. / and if death comes, so be it. / There'll be glory in it. / ... The gods will be proud of me." Rather than placing the importance of the gods first, Antigone

In this regard, Kahle and Riley note that, "Traditionally, causality is established through strict control and randomization over all other factors while experimentally manipulating the variable or variables in question" (2004, p. 165). Finally, Gliner and Morgan (2000) report that the internal validity (discussed further below)

Because Salinger allows him to stay in that world, we can cling to Holden as a pleasant memory. The Catcher in the Rye is told from Holden's perspective and this aspect of the novel allows it to remain innocent and suspended in time, so to speak. Holden is like Peter Pan in that he does not wantr to grow up but he is facing the glorious future that includes his
