Business World, There Are Front Essay

Management games are simple computer simulation games that provide the player with various management scenarios and decisions to make within those scenarios. The score of the player can be calculated by the program and compared to both the scores of their peers and the ideal score for the game. This allows managers to enter the management position with some simulated management experience already in place. The final problem that business management faces is properly managing their front line workers. Historically, managers were simply promoted front line workers who had been in the business long enough to know and understand the job and ensure that their front line workers did as well. Modernly, however, most management is hired from outside of a company and will often have little to no direct experience with the skill set that the front line agents are actually implementing. The problem arises when those managers receive orders from higher up the chain to change some aspect of the way the business is run. With little to no experience in the front line area, it can be very daunting to effectively give the front line workers instructions. Unfortunately, many managers have turned to a more broad style of management that fails to specifically assist agents in obtaining new skills and instead simply analysis and holds agents accountable for those new skills after a short training (Brudan, 2010). Thus, it has been concluded that even managers should have some baseline knowledge of the area that they are managing front line agents in, otherwise the management and agents will suffer.
Overall, management is faced with many new challenges that were not apparent in years before. The primary trend in all three publications was the necessity that management has applicable experience in more than simply managing and much more than a basic degree. While unclear as to how far managers should be in experience, the studies made it clear that having prior front line experience made for invaluable managers, whereas having a degree in management often resulted in an unprepared manager overall.
