How sports reproduce or challenge gender, sexuality, and/or racial norms
The world is made up of people with varying races, religious practices, regions, developmental capacities and levels, access to natural resources, gender, and many other facets of disparity: the emergence of sport and sporting activities has led to the creation of avenues where these differences are buried for the sake of promoting human equality globally.
Sports and sporting activities are human interventions that involve exemplification of skill, learnt and intrinsic, in deploying the rule of instructions and delivery of intended results. There are many sporting activities in the world. For instance, sporting activities range from those that involve in-depth levels of martial arts, skill, psychological reactions, and physical interventions. All sporting activities are open to human involvement: nonetheless, not all people all sporting activities because of their gender. Humanity exists with a number of differences. For instance, there are various parameters and avenues of difference like colour, culture. Religious inclinations, and the general attributes that differentiate one person from another. However, the existence of sports in the world has bridged the gap created by these differences and fostered equality of all human races in the world (Brace-Govan, 2010).
Sporting activities vary in the world. For instance, there are indoor sports, outdoor sports, and many other sporting activities. Sporting activities can be categorised into various disciplines like soccer, tennis, handball, swimming, golf, and many others. Human inventiveness and creativity has resulted in a variety of sporting activities in the world. The existence and dominance of different approaches of sport necessitates differences in human interventions. For instance, not all people can undertake all sporting activities. Different sporting activities can be participated by a number of people and not others (Schacht, & Ewing, 1997).
The concept of sporting is attributed to human inventive nature that has driven him into differing options of creating entertainment in the world. For instance, it makes imminent sense to have different forms of human interventions and involvement in the world. The desire to be creative, amazing, and involvement in many aspects of life has led to the creation of many sporting activities. Moreover, humanity exists in states of differences. Not all people are of a complete pathway in belief, physical complexities, and aspirations (Schacht, & Ewing, 1997).
Rugby and soccer
Sports have encouraged intensive involvement by people of different gender and attributions. Gender is one of the critical facets that reflect on the extent of human difference in feminine and masculine qualities. Nonetheless, these differences have been shunned by sports because many people of differing gender are participating in similar sporting activities. Within a developing world, there are different sporting activities. Some sporting activities are designed for people of differing genders. In the past, such connotative differences were rampant and occupant to the lives of many people. However, globalization and human incentive to engage in new challenges has necessitated gender involvement in various avenues of sporting. For instance, women are known to play masculine sporting disciplines like rugby and American football. Basing on the intensity of the games and their demands, women can never be thought to participate in such games and sporting activities. However, the spirit of sporting has encouraged people of differing genders to engage in new sporting activities that were not in contention initially (Deem & Gilroy, 1998).
Gender differences are only notable when it comes to engagement in other social activities that require masculine or feminine qualities. One case example is that of natural procreation where women act as partisans in giving birth to siblings. Nonetheless, when it comes to sporting activities, many women have left their inabilities and engaged in sporting activities that were a preserve for men in the past. Such sporting activities are football, soccer, and rugby, among others. In the modern world, gender difference plays no role in keeping separations between men and women in the sporting field. Given the understandable differences in masculine and feminine qualities, this perception has been shunned by the desire to engage in sports and make a mark in the field. Because of this, many women engage in sporting activities that are directed at boosting their capabilities in and out of the field.
Sports have assisted in eradicating stereotypes that undermined the capabilities of other genders and races in the world. For instance, a number of sporting activities could not be open to women or men because they were thought to derail their status as masculine or feminine. However, the emergence of diversity in sports has enabled many people across the gender barriers to engage in various sporting activities. Such a move has improved contention and competition in the world of sport (Schacht, & Ewing, 1997).
Many people have changed perception and gained new insights into the world of sport. In the past, sporting activities were accrued to a number of people who were perceived to be equitable in engaging in sporting. Nonetheless, sporting has changed its perceptions and changed perceptions of many people in the world. Now, almost every nation wishes to host the Olympic Games and world cup with an intention to establish and embrace the global culture of sporting in the world. The initial thwarted perceptions and intentions within gender disparities have been abandoned due to the emergence of sporting activities. Nonetheless, some societies still hold perceptions that are inclined to gender differences among people. However, increase in the capabilities of people to involve in sporting activities in changing the perception of people as regards gender differences (Clarke, 1998).
The world has realized that sporting activities do not respect gender differences. Initially, one could not belief that females can play rugby and soccer. Moreover, not even one person could come to terms with a belief that men could engage in netball and other sporting activities that were s preserve for men. However, the emergence of new perceptions in sport has enabled many people to embrace sporting activities no matter the gender differences between them. In order to succeed in sporting activities, many people have realized that the secret lies behind determination and continued exposure. Sporting activities have brought together people of varying gender into trying new avenues of sporting (Greendorfer & Rubinson, 1997). Before the emergence of sporting activities, it was hard to imagine how different genders could participate in an act that acted as a combining force between them. Sporting is an entertaining activity.
Gender exemplifies on the differences that arise due to feminine and masculine qualities. These natural happenings have their perceptions and origin from the human creation and existence in the world. Different genders have their innate and extrinsic perceptions clued to their capabilities. For instance, feminine qualities are perceived to have less dominion over masculine characteristics. With the existence of the two gender differences, it is hard to have common ground that can put the two qualities under a similar ground of contention. Sporting activities can fill this position effectively. For instance, feminine and masculine qualities are of less regard when we see both genders participate in a diversity of sporting activities for similar levels of achievement and objectives (Deem & Gilroy, 1998).
Sexuality is another facet that has been disapproved by the emergence of sports and sporting activities in the world. The human differences in terms of sexual orientations are a real facet that has numerous influences in the general human life. For instance, it is evident that sporting activities have encouraged equitable engagement in sporting activities by people of varying sexual orientations. The differences in sexual orientations are not respected by sporting activities. Considering the present states of sporting in the world, there are different sexual orientations involving in similar sporting events. What comes out clear is the fact that sexual orientations are fading away slowly in the sports world. For instance, it is not a new thing to find females engaging in similar sporting activities as done by men. The concepts that lead to the establishment of grounded information as regards gender in sports are fundamental to the general establishment of parameters of equality in the field of sport (Clarke, 1998).
The aspects of sexual differences have been intermingled by the essence of competition within sporting activities. Many sports men and women do not consider sexual difference as a basic facet to bar them from engaging in different sporting activities. For instance, rudimentary studies demonstrate that every person is filled with enough cohesion and availability in the sports world. Sexuality has been a monumental stabling black in many societies. Nonetheless, the growth of sporting activities in the world has shifted the entire perception and established cohesive experiences in sporting activities. For instance, engagement in different sporting activities has been a considerable boost in creating a balance of thought and belief among many people who could not take after different sporting activities (Talbot, 1997).
Many people of varying sexualities have engaged in varied sporting disciplines and managed to emerge with extraordinary successes. This notion has changed the perception of many people who have…
