Geography and environmental influences on community

Rendering to the United States Census Bureau, as far as geography of the area goes, it has an entire extent of 1.7 square miles (3.5 km2), and most of that is 1.7 square miles (4.5 km2) of it is a lot of property and land-living however only about 0.03 square miles of the town is really about (0.1 km2) of it (1.70%) is water.

Another interesting aspect of the geographical location is that the Wallkill River runs directly from the north beside the western border of New Paltz, rolling into the Rondout Creek and finally it comes out through the Hudson River.

Beliefs and Attitudes

The focus of a developmental systems theory of religious development in New Paltz would define and elucidate the altering nature of the individuals who live in the town perceived relationship with the divine through the life span as well-defined by the exclusive, dynamic communication of characteristics of the people and characteristics of the individual's background through time. Liberty Counsel got together a law suit, and Judge E. Michael Kavanagh distributed an order that had stopped the mayor from being able to pull it off, making the point that marriage in New York is between one male and one female. At that point, the mayor then selected Rebecca Rotzler and Julia Walsh -- which were the towns other village trustees and their job was to honor same-sex "marriages." However, the Liberty Counsel once again filed suit and gained another order which at the moment was able to barricade any village authorization from irreverenting the law. Of course once again, the Mayor and the Village made an appeal to the order.
Local Politics

As mentioned earlier, the town's current mayor is Jason West, who happened to have been re-elected in May 2011 which automatically put him into another four-year term, after not being in office since the year of 2007. The four trustees on the village board are Shari Osborn, Jean Gallucci, Michael Zierler, and Brian Kimbiz. The village upholds its private sewer district and Department of Public Works, but has dependence upon the town administration to deliver police facilities.

Sometime around the year of May 2003, a lot of the students from the university and those from the community members had elected the Revolution Campaign candidates who were Jason West, Julia Walsh andRebecca Rotzler, to the Village of New Paltz administration for a 4-year term to serve.
