Acadia University Promotion

Acadia University is a full service university that provides undergraduate, post-graduate, and online curricula. Currently, its promotional strategies are very similar to those that are standard in the higher education industry. To capitalize on the potential opportunities available in the present economic environment, it is suggested that the university focus on promoting its online programs with respect to three specific elements: (1) International Recruitment, (2) High School Recruitment, and (3) University Fairs. In principle, the suggested strategy is intended to allow the university to appeal and attract international students in professional fields typically associated with foreign training for the purpose of securing higher paying positions in the United States than are available in their home countries, and high school students and other prospective university program applicants who might be struggling with the financial burden of paying for traditional (i.e. on-site) university curricula. It is assumed that Acadia University will devote appropriate resources to increasing the scope, range, and depth of its online curricula in conjunction with this suggested promotional initiative.

International Recruitment

Currently, there is a continuing (and growing) trend of foreign-trained students who receive their undergraduate academic and professional training in their home countries with the specific intention of securing higher paying professional employment in their fields in the U.S. than are available in their home countries. In that respect, Nursing is one of the most common examples; moreover, that phenomenon is only likely to continue growing by virtue of the increasing need for skilled healthcare workers in the U.S. As a result of the rapidly aging U.S. population. While the quality of the technical training that foreign trained (in particular) receive is comparable to U.S. training in that field, many foreign trained nurses arrive in the U.S. with significant language barriers that severely complicate their employment prospects. Therefore, it is suggested that Acadia launch a promotional campaign targeting this population in conjunction with the establishment of a series of English Language for Foreign Professional program to capitalize on this market.

High School Recruitment and University Fairs

The current economic crisis in the U.S. has opened up a tremendous opportunity for higher education institutions that offer high-quality and comprehensive online academic programs that lead to fully recognized undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. Today, large numbers of students from socioeconomic strata that had previously considered attending college a "given" have come to realize that doing so may be financially unrealistic, especially if they had expected to attend traditional on-site colleges rather than commuting from their homes. The increasing costs of college tuition, reduced availability of U.S. federal student loans, higher unemployment of parents, lower prospects of part-time employment for college students, and severely reduced home values have made a traditional college education unaffordable for many Americans.
