Applicants To The School Of Term Paper

¶ … applicants to the School of Engineering:

Tell us how you decided that you wanted to study engineering, discussing relevant experiences or interests. What goals or interests do you hope to pursue as a Vanderbilt Engineering student?

I have a strong interest in earning a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering at Vanderbilt University, since, first I greatly enjoy and excel in mathematics and related subjects. I wish to become educated in engineering, a versatile field, and other subjects in order to pursue a successful engineering career and contribute positively to society. My experiences and interests relevant to engineering include: (list things like honors math courses, other honors courses in the sciences, electronics, cutting-edge computer applications you have learned about, math club, science fair, anything mathematical or scientific, etc.). My high school Grade Point Average in math and related subjects is: (put it here). My overall Grade Point Average in high school is: (put it here). Extracurricular activities and community service relevant to my goal of studying engineering at Vanderbilt include (list three or four, such as volunteer work, community work (even if not related) Eagle Scouts, etc.). Other interests and hobbies of mine are: (list sports like soccer or baseball, or martial arts like judo, karate, etc., music or the arts, like painting, acting, graphic arts, CAD, computer programming, other hobbies, etc.) Vanderbilt is my first choice because I would like, while receiving an excellent engineering education, to also have a well-rounded, respected, education in other areas like liberal, arts, social sciences, and applied sciences.

My first choice of Vanderbilt is also because its engineering department is both rigorous and committed to diversity. Other engineering programs I have researched seem to focus on graduate education; I strongly seek an excellent undergraduate, student-oriented education that prepares me either for graduate study or a career immediately after my Bachelor of Science degree. Also, I personally value Vanderbilt's focus on diversity. Understanding, valuing, respecting, and working side-by-side with others of all backgrounds is key to contributing positively to society. I would pledge to make the most of the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science degree at Vanderbilt.
