Career in Nursing and Why

¶ … career in nursing and why I am applying to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Certainly, these are valid questions and must be explained in detail, especially when a young person like me has changed course in their studies and contemplated pursuing another major. In this essay, I will justify my admission to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and the contributions I wish to make to the field. Firstly, I wish to highlight my philosophy on the issue of nursing.

The author's personal philosophy is to always do the right thing and be responsible and accountable for my actions related to patient care. I feel that like Florence Nightingale, we must pursue nursing (or any medical profession) as a vocation or a calling rather than as a career. The work certainly has a sacred aspect to it, as imbued as it is with the sanctity of life, its preservation and the promotion of the quality of life that makes it worth living.

In this way, my heart will be in the work to do the right thing and to be responsible and accountable for my actions as they relates to my patients. I put themselves in my patients' positions and wishes to give them the kind of care that elicits their trust, shows compassion and caring as well as competence as a nursing. Just as patients would not want to be treated badly, they revile incompetent, uncaring and untrustworthy nurses that soil the reputation of the profession.

This repugnance must be reflected by me as the nursing professional. If they feel that I share their situation and feelings, they will have faith in the therapeutic interventions that I will have to perform on the job. I just finished this semester as a social psychology major at Salem State University. I was previously pursuing a nursing major at Salem State in 2006, but due to my father's illness, I left the nursing program in the Fall of 2007.

In addition, I became involved in the care of my grandfather who died of cancer. I then switched my major to social psychology and attended part time to take care of my father and grandfather. I also worked as a nursing assistance at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Three weeks after the earthquake in Haiti, I went to help out. Unfortunately, some of my family members were lost in the earthquake. As I mentioned above, the promotion of the quality of life is very important in the treatment of patients.

The power of positive thinking has much to do with the successful treatment of patients. This is why I felt that I needed an extensive knowledge of patients mental health needs. The study of social psychology has provided me with this. The promotion of the patient's mental well-being is an important component of the patient's holistic treatment regimen. With a positive mental attitude, horrible physical problems are much more possible to overcome.

Indeed, patient focus is an important part of the focus of the medical team overall. In my opinion, pharmacists should provide patient care that optimizes medication therapy and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. The practice of clinical pharmacy should embrace a partnership with.

It should blend with a caring orientation specialized therapeutic knowledge, experience as well as judgment for the purpose of ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Just as nursing, clinical pharmacy also has an obligation to contribute to the generation of new knowledge that advances health and quality of life. The two disciplines combine ideally in the joined field of community nursing. Community nursing is about holistic and community oriented solutions. I want to make the biggest impact, so this would appeal to me the most. It also maximizes leadership.

It is my personal philosophy that nurses must take leadership.
