¶ … CARS Table that you will need to fill in. I will complete the draft after you complete the table format. PLEASE USE YOUR OWN WORDS! The table should be 3 pages in length -- but if you need more pages, please let me know. In this essay, the author will review articles in the current professional literature concerning factors that contribute to nursing morale (low or high) and job satisfaction in a hospital emergency department in the form of an annotated bibliography.

The goal of the capstone project is to investigate nursing morale and job satisfaction in ER environments in ways that have not been touched before in previous research studies. Most interesting and unexpected were differences between the researched populations based upon differences in marital status, age and cultural issues and the issues of emotional and job satisfaction that keep nurses in a hard job environment. All of the sources for the capstone project were culled from Google scholar and the Pandia metasearch engine.

They are all journal articles or doctoral dissertations that have been peer reviewed. All of the sources are published within the last five years. This author found a research topic by considering the experiences of colleagues who are veterans of years of service in emergency room environments. They have encountered similar problems before. While considering their anecdotal experiences in the formation of the research studies' structure, the research is meant to do systematic scholarly research to look into these issues more systematically. Problem Statement 1.

The problem is to review contributing factor leading to job satisfaction (or dissatisfaction) in an American Emergency room. 2. Problems facing emergency room registered nurses include emotional exhaustion, burnout and a lack of job satisfaction. B. Literature Search-Attached Emergency Room, Burnout, Emotional Exhaustion, Nursing Morale, Job Satisfaction, Job Retention, Transition Shock The most useful key words were emergency room, burnout, emotional exhaustion and nursing morale. These key words were the most useful because they tied into the stressed nature of the emergency room.

The stress is due to the life and death nature of the hospital ER environment. 2. List at least two resources that you will use to find your information. This author chose the sources based upon which turned up articles in Google scholar or EBSCO 3. I made three search attempts using different keywords. 4. Discuss which keywords yielded the most fruitful searches. Emergency Room, Burnout, Emotional Exhaustion, and Nursing Morale. Again, these keywords were tied into the stress and life and death nature of the hospital ER.

The primary keyword string emergency room was used in each and every search with all of the other words (such as "burnout" used in a secondary position. CARS Data Criteria and the Literature Review All of the data was taken from professional, peer reviewed journals, or scholarly dissertations that have been submitted in the pursuit of doctorate in nursing. All of these sites fulfill the CARS criteria regarding the data points. However, this is not enough in graduate school.

While the CARS research mostly surrounds Online sites, professional journals, theses, or dissertations can also be biased. The authors can also have hidden agendas. In addition, they can also have more subtle biases and defects. For instance, they can have faults in their research that are subtle and unintended. This is known as selection bias.

In the professional literature about healthcare interventions do the following: "selection bias refers to systematic differences between comparison groups in prognosis or responsiveness to treatment." In outfield, unlike many others in academia is especially critical because it can result in the death or harm to patients who are negatively affected by or medial prognoses, treatments or responses ("Selection bias," 2007). REFERENCE Source Credibility Accuracy Reasonableness Support Al-Turki, H.A. (2010). Burnout syndrome among multinational nurses working in Saudi Arabia. Annals of African Medicine, 9(4), 226-9. Annals of African Medicine is an established periodical.

Furthermore, Dr. H.A. Al-Turki is a professor in the electrical engineering department of King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia and an expert in his field. This source is recent, and cited by other scholars in the field with little to none.
