Consulting Firms
The purpose or this part of this essay deals with discussing the pros and cons of the differing types of consulting firms identified in the team analysis and accompanying matrix. I will evaluate both the positive and negative qualities of the following types of consulting firms: a management consulting firm, a technology firm, and a recruiting consulting firm.
Management Consulting Firm
The purpose of management consulting firms are to help companies improve their managerial tasks as the title would assume. This includes many important subtasks that need to be accomplished if a firm is set on being successful in this area. Much research must be done before any changes can be implemented in a typical management consulting firm system. Many working hours are spent traveling and gaining a deep understanding of what is going on in the company that has hired their services. General knowledge must be applied to specific circumstances making this type of firm useful for companies that have many problems and don't know how to solve them. This general approach includes knowledge in financial matters, leadership and economics.
Technology Consulting Firm
The use and appropriation of technological advances are the main focus of technology consulting firms. Technology firms are also known as informational technology firms as well. These type of organizations advise their clients on how to best use the technological resources available. Computers and computing power is included in these types of investigations but are not limited there. Tech firms provide clients how best to use all type of technology including phone services, capitol equipment and other items. Tech firms are required to know much about many diverse types of technology making these firms inherently flexible and consisting of many different types of employees who know many different functions of these firms.
Recruiting Firms
These firms are also known as human resource firms. These organizations seek to fix companies' problems by finding the right people to assume the responsibility of fixing the problem. These firms look at the advantages and disadvantages of altering health and benefit packages, mergers and acquisition of human capitol and retirement and pension policies. These firms are typically very large in nature and require a certain lack of personal involvement in their operations.
Part 2
In this particular scenario, Team C. is need of several improvements although it is best suited as a recruiting consulting firm. As discussed before, these types of firms require many different types of skill sets which Team C. definitely possesses. Most importantly it appears as if Team C. is best suited to deal with human resource-type issues best.
Gayla, while not neatly suited to fit into a technology firm, gives Team C. some balance as she can use her ability to temper arguments and wisdom as a contextualizing force to help bring understanding to the firm. Harvey and his great leadership skills allows him to relate to leadership problems within potential customers. Jeffery, Jeremy and Michael all are not very well suited in the customer service area. This may cause some problems for a recruiting firm. Team C. should not worry though as they bring other skills to the table that help give this group balance and focus.
