Joseph "Ronnie' Pringle is a blacksmith working in Simmons Forge. In the episode, he talks about apprenticeship and camp. Another kind individual paid for his camp experience. He discusses his three years working as a blacksmith. He also shows gratitude for the camp experience and the merit badges he earned there.

Vernon Owens is a potter. He works in Jugtown Pottery. In the episode, he discusses the groundhog kiln. Essentially, it is a kiln placed in a dug out trench. He runs around 150 small pieces in the kiln. He also mentions cutting back the kiln from 15 feet to 12 feet.

The next artists are Calder and Julie. They are students. They study at Kansas City Art Institute and discuss the beauty of craft and expressing art. They discuss the processes of pottery. They also highlight the joy of creating something.

There is another blacksmith from the Simmons Forge named Carlton Simmons. He used to be homeless. He talks about his craft and his work alongside Philip Simmons. He explains attempting to get things right at the first take. This is definitely something that blacksmiths must do because it takes a lot of time and effort to work on a piece.

The next one include an art student. In fact, she is a Ceramics major. Her name is Liz Largent. She attends Kansas City Art Institute. She discusses clay internship and employment. Artists need internships to gain experience for employment.

Another Ceramic student named Deborah Reed is a pottery or ceramic student. She attends 92nd Street Y. She loves the kiln and discusses the beauty of the clay. Most ceramic artists enjoy the sensations of creating with these materials.

There is a potter named Mark Hewitt. He discusses North Carolina glazing and firing. He compares them to pots from South East Asia. He explains salt glaze and southern...

Essentially the ash glaze comes from China. This artist appears to know a lot of history when it comes to glaze recipes.
Mark Hewitt is featured extensively in this episode of Crafts in America. He discusses like the other potter, his kiln. He also explains the process of Southern ceramic traditions. He mentions another fellow artist, David Drake. Hewitt is clearly passionate about pottery and the art of the glaze. He shows this through his knowledge of glazes and history of glazes as previously mentioned. He has several contacts within the world of pottery. He is an artist dedicated to his craft and enjoys being a potter.

Another potter featured who is a colleague of Mark is Joseph Sand. He used to live in England and now works with Mark. He is an apprentice under Mark Hewitt. He explains the process of apprenticeship and his joy of working under Mark for the last two years. He lives within his means and lives a simple life with his wife. He also eats from his garden and enjoys what he does.

Another potter is another apprentice, Alex Matisse. He discusses slip trailing. Slip trailing is finer details and comes from South Carolina. It is a fusion of many styles. Matisse enjoys doing slip training on pottery.

Roberta Williamson is a jewelry artist. She talks about inspiration. She gets inspiration from antique paper. Even just titles from pieces brings her inspiration for labels for pieces. It is an interesting look on how artists inspire themselves to create things. A simple scrap of paper brings joy and acts as a muse to her.

The next clip features a pair of jewelry artists named Roberta and Dave Williamson. They are art teachers as well as artists and they feature a clip of them and their students in an outing. They go to an antique mart to find items that inspire them to create and design beautiful pieces. They brought them there to help also the students identify their own style and formulate their own identity.
