Hotel is derived from the French word hotel which means to host. Basically, a hotel provides paid accommodation for which one pays for on a short-term basis. A casino resort hotel is a specialized hotel which provides lodging services also has a large room or rooms used for table wagering games and gambling activities such as game betting and slot machines. Some hotels may also offer luxurious facilities such as Jacuzzi, spas, bathrobes with slippers and slip-on shoes, dual sinks and pillow menus. Some hotels, which are larger, may even have swimming pools, conference facilities, fitness centers, day care for children, among other social amenities.

Traditional full service hotels are more expensive than the casino resort hotels. For example, on normal days, the prices of The Bellagio Las Vegas range from $149-$249 while that of The Trump Soho, which is a traditional full service hotel range from between $300-$500 per night. The difference in price is because in casino resort hotels, one pays as per the facilities used, but in traditional full service hotels, the prices are inclusive of everything present in the rooms, whether the client uses them or not.

In casino resort hotels, the revenue of the hotel is generated from the many fields in the hotel such as gambling games, betting games, golf courses, tennis courts, the hotel itself and other social services offered by the hotel. On the other hand, in traditional full service business hotels, the revenue is mainly generated from accommodation and lodging services and other services related to accommodation such as their restaurant and conference facilities.

Casino resort hotels offer table wagering games and other gambling activities such as sports betting and slot machines. Such activities are primarily for leisure and entertainment. On the contrary, traditional full service hotels offer services such as accommodation and restaurant. Other services include swimming pools, Jacuzzi and spa services.
