Disruptive Technologies

Visibility of customer supply chains has the potential to vastly improve supply chain efficiency (Manners-Bell & Lyon, 2019). For example, can help to create improved customer experiences and strengthen customer loyalty, as customers are able to have an accurate view of their order status and delivery times. The emergence of disruptive technologies such as Uber, Lyft, Zipcar, Lime, Bird, and Amazon Key are, as a result, having a major impact on the way supply chains operate. The ability to track, monitor, and manage customer orders in real-time has allowed these companies to offer a level of visibility and transparency unseen in many traditional supply chains (Edward, 2020). This has enabled them to quickly respond to customer needs, create new services, and reduce costs.

These companies are also using advanced analytics and machine learning to predict customer demand and optimize their supply chain operations. Analytics have enabled them to effectively manage pricing and inventory levels, while providing customers with accurate delivery times and enhanced customer service.

Ride sharing, which is an example of a disruptive technology, is a form of transportation service in which multiple passengers share a single vehicle. It is often used as an alternative to traditional taxis and public transport, and it can help reduce congestion and improve road safety. Ride sharing technology is also being used to optimize routes, reduce travel costs, and improve the customer experience.

All in all, the emergence of disruptive technologies such as ride sharing is transforming the traditional understanding of visible supply chains. With the ability to track orders in real-time, companies can provide customers with a high level of visibility, transparency, and customization. This, in turn, is allowing them to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve the customer experience.
