Educational and career goals for nursing

¶ … admission to a program to gain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The reason for this is that I believe that I have talents, skills and interpersonal disposition that make me a perfect candidate not only for the program itself, but for employment at a hospital in the future. My current short-term goal is therefore the gain the qualifications necessary for the purpose of making a career of nursing. My medium-term goal is to advance in my studies in such a way as to qualify for a Masters degree.

In personal terms, I have wanted a nursing career for as long as I can remember. I have considerable interpersonal skills, and have always had compassion for those in need of attention. This is particularly the case with expectant mothers and babies. I find the process of pregnancy and birth miraculous. It would be a blessing to be part of it. On the long-term, I therefore wish to specialize in neonatal nursing when I complete my studies and enter my career. I believe that studying under this fine program will help me to obtain my short-, medium- and long-term goals.

In addition to my compassion and interpersonal skills, I feel that I have both the emotional presence and maturity to handle a career in neonatal nursing. I feel an overwhelming love for newborn children, while respecting the fact that they need specialized care and careful monitoring to start their way into the world safely. Children are precious; they are the human legacy and should be treated as precious, and we should do all in our power to provide them with the best possible beginning in life.

For the above reasons, I believe that my aspirations to become a nurse are not only a career choice, but an intuitive calling. While I understand that nursing can be harsh, difficult, thankless profession, seeing a child come into the world in a healthy state is gratifying beyond everything else. For me, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing will provide me with a strong starting point towards achieving my goals.
