Flex Time The implementation of flex time improves employee morale and productivity, and ultimately increases public satisfaction. Employees benefit from flex time by enjoying more flexible childcare and travel arrangements, among other benefits. As a result, employee morale increases, resulting in decreased job turnover, absenteeism, and increased productivity. Flex time can also help employers better utilize equipment and resources. Improved employee morale results in happier and more accommodating employees, ultimately reflected in greater customer satisfaction. There are many reasons that employees desire a flex time policy.

Primarily, flex time allows employees to effectively balance work and life. This includes arranging for child care, and coordinating schedules with a working spouse. Flex time allows individuals to better accommodate for activities like parent teacher meetings, doctor's and dentist's appointments, and personal health issues. Further, flex time allows employees who drive to work to avoid traffic congestion, and allows other employees to coordinate their work schedule with limited bus schedules. Flex time can also allows employees to participate in car pooling arrangement.

Certainly, flex time likely results in improvements in employee morale. Employees who perceive that their employer is flexible and has employee best interests at heart likely have a greater sense of job satisfaction, and better morale. An employee whose personal life is better organized, thanks to flex time (including improved childcare and travel arrangements) is much more likely to be happy at work. Accordingly, flex time offers many benefits to the employer, which may not be initially obvious.

Improvements in employee morale that result from flex time have many spin-off benefits to the employer. Increases in job satisfaction and morale are likely to result in decreases in job turnover, and increases in productivity. Further, improved employee morale is likely to result in less employee absenteeism and improvements in working relationships among employees.

In addition, an employee with a better balance between work and his or her personal life is often less stressed, resulting in decreased illness, reduced use of company medical benefits, and time off from work due to medical issues. Importantly, flexibility in employee working hours may offer many practical benefits to the employer. For example, equipment and resources may be better utilized as flex time employees use these equipment and resources in traditionally quiet hours.

In this way, limitations on equipment use may be reduced, thus potentially resulting in significant increases in productivity. In addition, flex time may be able to extend the services hours that an employer provides to the general public. An operational flex time policy may also help recruit talented individuals to the organization. In many situations, flex time may result in increased public satisfaction. First, the improved morale of workers in flex time arrangements is likely to be reflected in their dealings with the general public.

Certainly, a happy employee is likely to be much more.
