Gay and Lesbian Adoption

I used evidence from the research I did, including data, anecdotes, expert testimony, and observations. I also used my own personal views that gays and lesbians should be allowed to adopt, because I believe it is wrong to keep them from parenting just because of their sexual preferences. Many gay and lesbian couples show that they can be loving and quite competent parents, and their sex lives have nothing to do with laws that keep them from adopting.

No, I did not find it difficult to consider another point-of-view. I understand that in most controversial issues, there are two sides to the argument, and that both sides often have very strong beliefs. What was frustrating was the states that oppose gay and lesbian adoption, and the laws they have passed against it. I really feel strongly that the states have no business getting involved in people's personal lives like that. In reality, their only argument is that these couples are gay or lesbian, and so "not fit" to be parents, and I just feel that is going way too far in government. As I said in the paper, there are many heterosexual couples who are truly unfit parents, and they have to abide by laws that govern how they treat their children, but they should really not be parents, yet there are no laws that keep them from conceiving. That issue is frustrating to me.
