Green Energy Importance of Green Energy

Sweden is aiming, by the year 2020, "to replace all fossil fuels with renewable before climate change damages economies and growing oil scarcity leads to price rises" ("BBC News- Science and Nature"). The impact of fossil fuels, namely oil, is so significant that Sweden has realized that things need to change its nation's practices in order to reduce the negative consequences on its nation as and its citizens. With the impact of the rising oil prices so significant on Sweden, it begs the exploration of the future of oil in America. Our cultures dependence on oil seems to be destroying the society that is cherished by the population; thus, Americans need to start using more eco-friendly energy sources to foster a livable world for the future.

When gas was three dollars a gallon back in December of 2010, that is when Ronnie Undeberg of Florida decided that he would start driving less and when gas hit four dollars a gallon, Undeberg said that he would need to "scale back his cable television package and cut his cell phone use" (Mouwad, and Bunkley A1). People are certainly feeling the impact of rising oil prices at the gas pumps and this rise in oil prices is hindering daily activities. The increased dependence on oil means that people have to make budget alterations in order to fuel their cars or heat their homes. If people do not have alternate means to complete either of those important things, then it further reinforces people's dependence on oil. With increased or stable demand for oil, the prices can continue to increase without any roof to the prices which has obvious negative consequences for people's lives. Additionally, the negative impact that oil dependency has for our nation is also noted.
