It is thus essential for this paper to come up with a plan through which weapons can be tracked more easily and that could prevent criminals from coming in possession of a weapon. Through tracking weapon traffickers and individuals who are in need of illegal guns, the authorities can devise a strategy meant to reduce weapon trafficking and discourage both traffickers and buyers. My analysis will not only deal with traffickers, as I will also focus on stolen guns and on whether or not they have an effect on crime rates. In order to discover this, I am going to verify the number of stolen guns within a period and the number of crimes associated with the respective weapons in the same time lapse.

Background: I am going to focus on International illegal arms, but my main point of focus will be the U.S., given that results generated in this country are normally easier to obtain. Guns are normally even more dangerous when they are associated with criminals and even though it is difficult to determine the effect of illegal weapons on crime rates as a result of the many cases involving unclear data. I am going to analyze states where crimes related to illegal guns occur with a greater frequency and I am going to try to determine what influences criminals in choosing particular areas with the purpose of committing illegal acts.

Scope: I am going to try to demonstrate that gun control can have negative effects on particular communities because ordinary people end up being disarmed and because criminals will always have access to illegal weapons, regardless or not gun control laws are present in the areas where they operate. One of the main interests of this proposal is related to the fact that illegal weapon trafficking is very difficult and almost impossible to prevent.
