I believe that there are a number of critical points of veracity elucidated within lesson three regarding the value of literature to Christians and to those who embrace Christianity. Actually, I have a number of strong convictions regarding literature in general; one of my mantras is that anything of true value in this world -- that which extends beyond the temporal -- is written down. One of the most eminent points of agreement that I found with this particular lesson revolves around the merit of the Bible. The Bible is certainly a work of literature and, when considered in its earliest form as part of the Dead Sea Scrolls, is one of the most enduring works of literature to be found.
There are a number of different arguments regarding the utilitarian aspect of this particular piece of literature. Some believe that the stories and anecdotes within it are mere allegories created to prove overarching points related to Christianity and to God in general. Others view this as a historical text which delivers a considerable amount of insight into events and circumstances that took place millennia ago. Still others view this as a sacred, holy book endowed with the truth that is unfiltered wisdom and verbiage from God (and Jesus) himself.
Regardless of all these different conceptions, I believe that the Bible -- as a form of literature -- provides a solid foundation to build initial exploration and thought processes on many issues that are integral to life as a Christian. Therefore, studying the Bible is a studying a form of literature that certainly increases the student's knowledge of several tenets that pertain to this religion. This statement particularly applies to the New Testament with its chronicles of the life and times of Jesus. Since Christ is the figure that the majority of this religion is based upon, studying his life certainly functions as an aid to understanding Christianity and the various expectations of adherents to this religion.
