Management Describe The Various Departments Term Paper

She stuck her neck out and put the child (the "product" in this setting) ahead of everything else, and in the end it did work out well. What I learned from that is that when making difficult decisions you have to keep the company's goals in mind. If your decision really works toward achieving those goals, it's a stronger decision. 3. What do you think are some advantages and disadvantages to using computer technology in decision-making?

Computer models can make trends apparent that might not have been noticeable before. They can identify trends we might not be aware of. However, the problem with computer models is "GIGO" - "garbage in, garbage out." To me that means both what you put in and what you leave out, either by accident or because the software leads you that way. I personally don't think any important decisions should be made based on computer models as well. For instance, perhaps a store performs...

But at the same time, maybe that store has increased its profits 20% and has been the beginning of an economic turn-around in that neighborhood. The company might legitimately think twice before shutting it down.
4.Discuss the potential advantages and disadvantages of using a group to make decisions. Give examples from your experience.

Using groups to make decisions can be great when each person brings some kind of useful skill, knowledge or expertise that can inform and help the others. However, if skills and knowledge are duplicated, it may turn into a minor turf war, especially in a company where people feel they have to jockey for position. Groups should serve an ongoing purpose and not just be convened once to solve one problem, because a group that functions well will develop efficient ways of working together and become more productive over time.

Managing change in the organization often centers on one of several change strategies or approaches for implementing changes in an organization.
