Admission Essay: Master of Science in Nursing-Family Practitioner
I’ve always wanted to serve in the helping professions. This is where I feel most accomplished as both an individual and professional. To be more specific, I happen to be specifically excited about working with patients across all age groups. This is more so the case when it comes to deploying the skills that I have thus far acquired in not only the diagnosis, but also treatment and monitoring of persons presenting with various symptoms. In this role, I work closely with professionals from diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to; physicians, regular nurses, as well as certain specialists. However, it would be prudent to note that I am convinced that to be able to function better in this realm, the relevance of enhancing my skills and capabilities even further cannot be overstated. It is for this reason that I intend to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing-Family Practitioner degree. This course of action would neatly align with my specific career goals and objectives as a family nurse practitioner.
To begin with, I intend to ensure that my decisions as an FNP are firmly rooted in the latest evidence-based research. This is especially useful because in so doing, I would be availing to patients healthcare that is most effective and beneficial when it comes to their health and wellbeing. To a large extent, this particular program will further sharpen my skills in as far as the skillful translation of research into knowledge relevant in practice settings is concerned. This way, I will be able to play an even more beneficial or instrumental role in efforts to improve patient outcomes.
Next, it should also be noted that yet another career goal that I harbor is the ability to deploy care that could be considered culturally appropriate for patients from diverse backgrounds. There is no doubt at all that the world is increasingly becoming integrated – with geographical barriers that have existed in the past having been eliminated. Thus, unlike was the case in the past, we in the nursing profession are likely to interact with patients from all walks of life. For this reason, one ought to be able to be aware of, and respect the viewpoints as well as values and beliefs of persons from various cultures, persuasions, or backgrounds. This particular program will equip me with skills meant to ensure that I am able to engage in both the coordination and management of culturally appropriate care.
Third, as I have already indicated in the introductory section of this essay, I happen to be specifically excited about working with patients across all age groups. It is for this reason that I would wish to continue playing a key role in the promotion of child as well as adult healthcare. This will call for even better capabilities in as far as the provision of specialized care to patients across the lifespan is concerned. The Master of Science in Nursing-Family Practitioner degree program comes in handy in this regard. In addition to equipping me with a holistic perspective in as far as healthcare is concerned, the program will also endow me with skills meant to further sharpen my patient examination, diagnosis, as well as treatment abilities.
