The biggest problem that Dan Smith more than likely is facing is: integration. This can be problematic, as there are different operating procedures and cultures within each facility. The big challenge going forward is: being able to merge these two cultures into one. As the must be focused on: improving the overall quality of care that is being provided. This is important, because if this key challenge can be addressed, it will help to improve the overall quality of care that is being provided. What management options are open for him to choose from?
There are two different management options that Smith can choose from these include: the parentalistic and the democratic approaches. The parentalistic approach is when managers will establish tight controls of the activities of employees (giving them little to no room in making their own decisions). The democratic approach is when you are motivating employees. The basic idea is to help them make their own decisions about: how to provide the best treatment options to customers. This means, that managers must work with everyone, to help them understand how they are a part of the team. In this case, the best approach for Dan Smith to use is the democratic management style.
