CKDFramework The project's framework will be loosely based on Nola Pender's DOH model. Pender's model, as presented in 1996, was designed to look at how different "behavioral cognitions and competing demands on physical activity among Taiwanese adolescents" (Tsu-Yin, Pender, 2002, p. 26). Pender's 1996 study was designed to consider how cognition, environment and action all influence the individual's health promotion efforts. This project seeks similar data and knowledge and will look at the various influences and factors that help to determine the rate of CKD in Clermont County, Ohio.

The health promotion project will be much more limited in scope than the Pender study, primarily due to time and funding constraints. The fundamental premise of the researcher is that the intervention will promote a positive reduction in the incidence of CKD in a certain population. The project will look at variables including; gender, age, and general physical fitness. Additionally, the project will consider the three different parts of the intervention; 1) a CKD screening, 2) a homoarginine screening, and 3) positive reinforcement education concerning CKD.

Population As stated above, this project will focus on a specific clinic within Clermont County, Ohio. According to Clermont Health District.org, in 2013 Clermont county's population suffered a slightly percentage rate of unhealthy days and a slightly higher percentage of residents who reported they were suffering poor or fair health to both Ohio and the United States' averages (Clermont, 2013, p. 42). According to the study, reasons for the slightly elevated results could be linked "higher unemployment, poverty, percentage of adults who did not complete high school, mortality rates and disabilities" (p. 42).

Considering the factors that affect individual and community health (especially in Clermont County) will be of utmost importance to this project. The factors the project will focus on (as stated in the framework) include; what type of education concerning CKD is currently available in the specific clinic, how many individuals are currently undergoing CKD screening, and how many participants are currently receiving homoarginine.
