Project Deployment Plan

In order to minimize disruptions to operations, set-up of the various components of the system in both the main office and the two regional offices will occur over the weekend or during the evening, when operations have ceased or slowed. Set-up will begin in the main office, where the installation of the server will require eight hours, or one work day. The following day (Sunday), the installation of the main router will occupy the team's first three hours. Installation of the main switch and printer will require another four and one-and-a-half hours, respectively, rounding out an eight-and-a-half hour workday and finishing the weekend.

The following day, though a Monday and a day of full operations, cabling can be run in both the main headquarters and the regional offices, time permitting. The amount additional cable needed for the implementation of the system is expected to take ten hours to run and secure properly in all three offices (the main office and two regional offices); including the team's transportation time, cabling should be completed no later than the end of the day Tuesday. At this point, operations will resume in the evenings, if office conditions permit, as work disruptions would be higher for the subsequent phases of equipment installation.

The installation and attachment of three CSU/DSUs to the main router at the head office will require two hours each, or a total of six hours. This can be accomplished in one evening as long as the installation team is able to begin shortly after the close of normal operations. These will then be connected to T-1 devices (time necessary for these connections is negligible, to the point of inconsequentiality), and hardware installation at the main office will be complete.

The remaining hardware installations at the regional office will require five hours each, taking place on Thursday and Friday following the close of operations. Installation of the CSU/DSUs at each office will take two hours, and the same amount of time will be necessary the remote switches at each office. The remaining hour at each regional office is required to set up the router, and after this is accomplished all of the necessary hardware components will be installed. The installation of printers in the regional offices and speakers in all three offices will require fourteen-and-a-half to seventeen-and-a-half hours, depending on the number of printers required at the main office, but these can be installed with minimal disruption and can thus be carried out during the regular work week following the installation of the other components.

The workstations are of more pressing concern both for their necessity and the time necessary for the installation of each one. It will take approximately one hour to set up each workstation, and with sixty-five workstations needed in the three offices combined, it is unlikely that any office could be completed in even a full weekend's work. Given the high level of disruption tat installation of workstations would cause to normal business operations, however, the deployment plan would include a full twenty hours of workstation installation in the main office over the first weekend. The remaining forty-five hours of installation would be carried out in the evenings of the following week, with completion of the entire project occurring on Saturday of that week, two weeks after installation began.
