Ethics is important in research, and the main points touched upon include eliminating bias and the value of obtaining informed consent. Clarity in research is also important, and integrity and transparency should be principles that one seeks to achieve in research. In fact, in any field of research, integrity and transparency are essential. Integrity refers to the quality of being honest and truthful, while transparency refers to the quality of being open and accessible. Together, these two qualities help to ensure that research is conducted in an ethical and responsible manner.

The conversation could thus be advanced by focusing on the two main points of integrity and transparency in conducting research. Integrity is important in research because it helps to ensure that data is collected and reported accurately. This is essential in order to maintain the validity of the research. Transparency is also important in order to ensure that all stakeholders have access to information about the research project. This includes funding sources, methodology, data collection and analysis procedures, and results. By providing this information upfront, researchers can help to build trust with their audience.

Whether one is conducting qualitative or quantitative research, the intent should always be guided by integrity with transparent methods provided (Creswell & Creswell, 2018). One should be clear at all times, never trying to confuse others, but rather using a language and terms all understand (Ciubotariu & Bosch, 2022). Ultimately, integrity and transparency are important because they help to ensure that research is conducted ethically and responsibly. These qualities help to create an environment of trust and collaboration, which is essential for conducting meaningful research.

More could always certainly be said on this line of reasoning because it is such an important one. Informed consent is essential to proper research with human subjects or participants (Creswell & Creswell, 2018). In fact, informed consent is a central ethical principle in research involving human participants. The purpose of informed consent is to ensure that individuals participate in research voluntarily and with full understanding of the risks, benefits, and procedures involved. Informed consent forms should be clear and concise, and they should be presented in a way that allows individuals to make an informed decision about whether or not to participate. Moreover, researchers should be available to answer any questions that participants may have about the research. Obtaining informed consent is crucial to conducting ethical research, and it helps to protect both participants and researchers.

Privacy is also inherent in ethical research, and it should be explained to participants how their privacy will be protected. Every participant has a right to be safe from public exposure, and his or her identity should never be disclosed in a study without that person’s express permission. It is important for privacy to be maintained and anonymity to be preserved even when participants are never met, i.e., take part in research over the Internet (Pace et al., 2005). Up until the 20th century, researchers were not bound by any ethical principles when conducting their studies. Another consideration is that when participants are not anonymous, they may be reluctant to share sensitive information or be more truthful about their views. This could lead to distorted results and a lack of validity in the study. Furthermore, exposing participants’ identities could also put them at risk of reprisals, especially if the research is controversial or unpopular. In other words, protecting the privacy and anonymity of participants is essential to conducting ethical research.
