Response to Peer's Post

Considering the information provided in the week, several questions are developed. The first is what Hinduism entails, and are there any rituals involved? The other question does Hinduism compare to Islam and Christianity? The other is how was Hinduism developed as a religion? These questions will be vital in creating a deeper understanding of Hinduism as a religion. What stood out to me was that Hinduism is the third-largest religion since I always thought that Buddhism was the third-largest religion after Islam and Christianity.

Part 1

The ideas or concepts in this model have been interesting. The main aim of Hindu life is Moksha. It means to be saved. When a Hindu gains salvation, it is believed that he ends the cycle of samsara, which is termed rebirth. The Hindus complete the cycle through good deeds and actions (Barua, 2017). The activities of the previous lives that people did change, and they gain Artha, which is prosperity. The Hindus who attain Moksha achieve a great pursuit of wealth and understand the importance of spiritual wealth.

Other concepts of the model have also been interesting. They are that Hindu is not a very organized religion compared to others like Islam and Christianity neither does it have any systematic approach to teaching its value systems. The Hindus do not have a set of laws such as the ten commandments and other community-driven practices that affect the Hindu world's interpretation and beliefs (Barua, 2017). They also believe that truth is eternal. The Hindus know the need for understanding and knowledge of the truth. It helps n their reality and universe. The Vedas claim that truth is one and wise in several ways.

The other crucial concept is that Hindus believe that individual souls are immortal. Their souls, atman, is not created or destroyed according to religion. When it is in a person's body, the soul's actions determine its consequences in the same life. Transmigration moves the soul from one body to another (Barua, 2017). The kind of body, the soul, determines the actions done in the previous lives. These concepts helped me understand Hinduism better, and I got to know the difference between it and other religions since its rituals and beliefs are unique.
