Small Business Contract

The objective of this paper is to suggest the simplified an acquisition method that our organization could employ to bid for contract from the federal government. Typically, we are intending to bid for the contract that worth $600,000 from the Department of Defense (DoD) and we are required to select an appropriate simplified acquisition method.

Appropriate Simplified Acquisitions Method

The federal government agencies purchase product and services using three methods:

Simplified acquisitions,

Sealed bids, and Negotiation.

Simplified acquisition method is the easiest method that the governments use to acquire product and services from contractors. This paper suggests that BPAs (Blanket Purchase Agreements) will be appropriate as the simplified acquisition method for our organization. The rational for selecting blanket purchase agreements is to fill anticipated repetitive needs for supply of the government goods and services. Since our organization is anticipating bidding for the contact worth $600,000, the BPAs will be appropriate. Essentially, BPAs are appropriate for organizations intending to supply materials for the government offices. Using the BPAs method, our organization will be able to fill the repetitive needs of the government. Yearly, Department of Defense always require large varieties of products and services, and based on the needs of the DoD, our organization will be able to procure contract in order to deliver valuable goods and services to the DoD using DBAs. The benefits of using DBAs is that it will assist our company to avoid writing numerous purchase orders because the DBAs do not require existing contract requirements for the same good and services for the contracting activities. Moreover, the DBAs will be advantageous for our company because the method will offer opportunities to supply unlimited goods and services. (Acquisition Central, 2013).

However, the simplified acquisition method using the DBAs could present the problems. The next section discusses sections and part that uniform contract format could present problems.

2. Analyze all Sections and Parts and of the Uniform Contract Format

Under the law, the contract above $25,000 should be prepared using the solicitation method. (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2014). Typically, the uniform contract method assists the government to facilitate the preparation of contract and solicitation as well as all the documents to be used by contractors, contract administration and offerors. All the sections and parts of the uniform contract are presented in the Table 1 below:

The costs or prices for goods and services are the area within the uniform contract format that could present the problem for our company. The reason is that several companies will be bidding for the same contract awards and all of them will be obliged to submit fair prices for the goods and services to be supplied. We will need to submit fair prices that will be acceptable to the federal government in order to win the contract since we will be facing competitions with other bidder.

Moreover, description or statement of work specification is another area that could present challenges for our company since the description of the statement of work should be compatible with the federal government requirements. Deviation from the laid down requirements may make the federal government to reject our bid.
