In line with the new state laws that which outlaw smoking in work places, there will be a clinic to help those willing t attend to quit smoking. Despite these new laws, several employees in Biohygenics still smoke around the workplace. Smokers are expected to go outside and stand at least 20 feet from any doorway in case they want to light up but this rarely happens.

Consequently there has been a continuing problem for Biohygenics which is loss of productivity due to the fact that employees take multiple smoke breaks and they are often away from their areas of work for the better part of the day. This will eventually lead to unanswered phone calls, paperwork delays and more work load for those who do not smoke. About two weeks ago it was noted by State's EPA when one of an EPA inspector got evidence of smoking that had been taking place in the women's rest room that is found on the second floor. The company seeks to take actions that are not only beneficial to us as a company but actions that will benefit our employees since our employees are very important to us because hey Biohygenics cannot exist without our employees. Biohygenics management is not out to take disciplinary action against employees rather they have made arrangements with the HMO to conduct Smoking Cessation clinics.

These clinic sessions are meant to be voluntary and no single employee is going to be forced to attend the sessions since we value our employee's decisions and vow not to violate any their rights. At the same time if the workplace becomes a 100% smoke free it will mean that there will be low premiums for the employees and this is good news for all of us in terms of the reduction in premiums paid for insurance. These clinics are also beneficial to the employee since they will help them kick the smoking habit entirely which is also an advantage to them.
