Personal Artifact Analysis
Part OneData Gathering
My friends artifact is a cell phone. it is gray, measuring about 5 inches by 2 inches. It is gray with an uncluttered screen. It has one app for trading stocks, which is Robinhood; one app for checking email, which is Gmail; and a photo button on the home page. It is manufactured, made of plastic, glass, and electronic equipment. It is heavy, smooth, and relatively new but it is slim and will fit in a pocket.
Connections that can be made between my friend and the artifact are that it reveals that my friend likes to trade stocks on his phone. He also has a lot of pictures in his photos album that he allowed me to see. He is also connected to messaging via his email account. The phone is important to him, in other words, because it keeps him connected to others and to trading.
My hypothesis regarding this artifact and...
He does not have any time-wasting apps on his phone like others do, which indicates he is fairly serious-minded. From talking to him it is clear that he does take himself seriously. The biggest surprise for me in conducting this exercise was how much you can learn about a person just from investigating a single artifactfor example I had no idea about any of this regarding my friend. Some things I have learned from this activity that I will help me in the future will be asking questions about an artifact to learn more about…
Artifact: "Fieldwork Observation Report" INTASC Standard: COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, non-verbal and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom. In this artifact, the writer considered and analyzed what he observed during about 20 hours in a high school classroom. He noted both strengths and weaknesses in the teaching he saw. He noted that many students were actively engaged in the
I would say that while the world seems like a smaller place, there are still problems and people still act the way they always have. There are still diseases we cannot cure and people still die. I would say that the one disease that began some 30 years ago in the 1980s has finally taken hold of the majority of the population. I would talk about how AIDS was once
Among the ironies evident in the film, the hardest-working people in the community seemed to be the black women employed by white families. That obviously conflicts with some of the most common racist themes about African-Americans: that they are "lazy" or, in the vernacular of the era, "shiftless" (Healey, 2008). Racial bias was the societal norm in Mississippi in the 1960s; in fact, both stereotyping and prejudice were actually codified
Artifact Comparison: An Islamic Rosary versus an African Bracelet One of the challenges of artifact comparison from the perspective of a cultural outsider is to locate the objects in their appropriate context, versus imposing the observer's Western or contemporary ideals upon them. This can be seen when gazing upon the pottery bead rosary necklace from the Asian ethnographic collection in the Museum of Natural History. The artifact was found in Messhad, Iran
Media Artifact in American Culture Twitter: An Arising Media Artifact in American Culture In the course of an average year in viewing mainstream American culture, an innumerable amount of fads come and go, gaining their respective fifteen minutes of fame on the stage that is set by the American media industry. After spending what is often a brief time in the spotlight, these media trends tend to fade out nearly as abruptly
Museum The artifact that I have chosen is from the Louvre in Paris. It is the law code of Hammurabi. The Louvre is one of the most famous museums in the world. Located in Paris, it contains works from around the world, both archaeological and artistic, including things like the Mona Lisa. The Louvre was founded in 1792. It contains many different collections. Antiquities contained are from Egypt, the Near East
