It requires a great deal of planning as well as improvisation, as emergencies are inherently surprises and within an emergency situation there can arise many conditions that are unexpected, unplanned, and require adaptability. This is why such aspects as purpose and vision are crucial elements to an organization such as the American Red Cross. Imaginably, the value that the American Red Cross seeks to cultivate and propagate concerns unity, learning, volunteerism, helping others, and a general spirit of compassion and benevolence.
