Student Feedback Offers Essential Verification for Quality

Last reviewed: August 8, 2012 ~4 min read

¶ … Student feedback offers essential verification for quality evaluation as I use it for supporting efforts for the improvement of quality and also because it is useful for potential students. I always try to use such feedback sources that could help me to keep focus on observation of key aspects of teaching. Also, I collect the feedbacks as soon as possible after every important learning activity. The questionnaires are constructed in a manner that has a very wide choice of applicability. The most important thing that I emphasize on while giving feedback to a pupil is that I highlight the particular features and worth of his/her work. Also, the feedback I give contains advice on the areas that need improvement.

Most importantly, I make use of my feedback to assess the individual traits of the pupils' work and avoid comparing the work with that of other pupils'. Moreover, the feedback I give includes summary statements i.e. I compress and restructure the information appropriate to a specific behavior into various portions. These statements highlight a variety of aspects like the right response, the action taken, or the subject matter conferred to. This means that I keep my feedback specific because specific comments are more helpful for the improvement than general comments. Most importantly, I identify the problem, provide the required solution and also indicate the location of both the problem and solution.

However, in future, I intend to employ such a feedback that includes explanations in complex tasks. Also, I am determined to use affective language so that the implementation of feedback could be influenced (Nelson, 2007).

Importance of Parent/Family Feedback in Improving the Quality of Student Work

Families can and do have an encouraging and helpful influence on the quality of work their children do in school. If truth be told, the involvement of family/parents and their feedback emerges to have a shielding outcome on student learning. In simple words, it means that "the longer families stay meaningfully involved in their children's education, the more likely their children will be successful in school" ("Family, School," 2007). There is a believable, constructive and persuasive relationship between family participation/concern and benefits for students that include enhanced educational achievement. This relationship is noticeable in families of all financial, cultural/national and educational backgrounds and for learners at all ages. Studies have revealed that the family involvement and feedback in the learning activities of students help them to earn improved grades, register in advanced program and have elevated graduation rates ("Family, School," 2007).
