Given Mrs. B's hostility to the medical system, this would likely be the result. Also, there might not be room, as priority is given to patients who cannot be treated with at-home care.
3. Make a choice.
The hospital did not wish to intervene further, so the nurse herself attempted to act as a social worker, and inform the husband of the severity of the wife's problem. This seemed like the least hostile action to take, and the least likely to create further tension between both Bs and the medical system. Also, the woman was mentally competent, even though she did not appreciate the full severity of her condition, or the necessity of accepting antibiotics.
The ethical principle applied in making this decision was that of allowing patient's free choice, and not imposing one's personal values upon patients, even when the nurse thinks the patient is making the wrong decision.
Unfortunately, the woman still refused treatment and did not recover fully from her injuries.
5. Consider the feedback issue.
Early on during her treatment, when the B's hostility and confusion over the patient's condition became evident, nurses and social workers within the hospital environment should have made the couple cognizant of the need for extended care, after discharge. This highlights the need to anticipate after-care treatment, and also to take into consideration the entire family environment when issuing post-discharge orders.
6. Personal Evaluation:
Decision-making is a series of steps, not a single step. Because of faulty decision making early on in the treatment process in when psychologically assessing the patient and her husband, the decisions open to the nurse later on were very limited and unsatisfactory.
Professional Development Review Evaluation (20%) James Cain, Mildred Pierce On the grounds of literary merit, Mildred Pierce is a 'potboiler.' However, its tale of how a hardscrabble woman made a fortune through a chain of restaurants illustrates the American Dream, in terms of both of its good and bad sides. Pierce is a strong woman, but author Cain cannot allow her to be viewed as a heroine, because of her failure as a
Woman in the Military Although their numbers are still disappointingly small, military women now serve with distinction in every service. The women who served in Operation Desert Storm flew planes into enemy territory, fired weapons, commanded combat support units, ferried troops in to the combat zone and carried them fuel and supplies. At the end of the war, Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney applauded the women's performance: "They did a bang
There is no factual situation under which I would ever act in a similar manner; the role of the prosecutor is to seek justice, not to seek convictions. A prosecutor may feel certain that a defendant has committed a crime, but, if they lack the evidence to support that feeling, they simply cannot prosecute the individual. To me, that is the main ethical dilemma faced by prosecutors, and the

woman I interviewed seemed the consummate professional who valued a good education. She in her second reply discussed the PCI (Parent Coaching Institute) in Bellevue, WA. She stated PCI was the only institute to her knowledge that offered proper certification for a parent coach. This is an important bit of information because most who want to be certified parent coaches assume any training will allow them to achieve certification.
agrees that ethics is an important part of effective leadership in the field of health care but there is no universally accepted understanding of what constitutes ethical leadership (Milton, 20004).
