Gang Activity in the United
This paper reviews the relevant literature to provide an overview of the Aryan Brotherhood, Black Guerilla Family, the Folk Nation, the Mexican Mafia, and MS 13 as well as their respective history and founders, basic beliefs and missions, and the geographic regions where they are strongest. An analysis of recent trends in the membership of these gangs is followed by an analysis of the specific impact of these groups on the correctional system. Finally, a discussion of the types of criminal activities that gangs are engaged in prison system is followed by a comparative analysis of these gangs concerning similarities and differences with respect to their respective missions, threat levels and types of criminal activity in the conclusion.
Homicide rates and patterns in Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has been the hub of major homicides in United States in the past decade. Where New York has shown the homicidal number of 600 casualties; the number reflecting statistics in Puerto Rico was almost 50 percent higher as compared to the statistics of 2003. In 2012, the similar statistics for homicides have reached 900. In order to combat this issue, it is necessary that the possible causes for this wave of violence should be identified (Godoy, 2008).
Puerto Rico has been a major residential area of Hispanic community. Due to its easy route availability to mainland, low prices, better tourist attractions and other amiable factors, it is also an ideal destination for the feudal gangs who wish to have a suitable neighborhood as their territorial jurisdiction offering an inlet into the Mainland.
Prison Reduction of Prison Population Current Impact
In United States, the judicial system is available to provide safety and justice to the people. Unfortunately, the U.S. criminal justice system has failed to perform its duty properly. It has not stopped the criminal activities nor is it cost effective. About 25% of the world's prison population is in U.S. that makes U.S. the largest jailer of the world (Kirchoff, 2010).
One of the densely populated U.S. states is Indiana that comes on 15th position according to its population out of the 50 states. Indiana has a sustainable economy, it reported largest surplus among all the U.S states having $1.2billion.
