Nugent's analysis is perhaps most pertinent today, however, when it seems that so many of the American economic sectors of industry are still in a state of contraction or stasis. Nugent's individualist modality of stressing inflection points is not only appropriate to an expanding market, but also enables investors to emerge from the state of despair that so often grips a sluggish or drifting financial market. By targeting industries that are likely to grow over the course of the next several years and are coming into a period of demand and expansion in their business life cycle, investment opportunities can still be found, even in the most mediocre and pessimistic investment climate.
