Error, Failure and Risks: The 2016 Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Recall
In September 2016, Samsung initiated a global recall of one of its flagship smartphone brands, the Galaxy Note 7. The recall was set in motion just a few weeks after the company had launched the smartphone device, after numerous complaints were registered with regard to batteries overheating (Swider, 2017). Barely two weeks after launch, quite a number of dangerous battery episodes had been reported. This necessitated the issuance of a formal recall across the nation from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Initially, Samsung diagnosed the problem as originating from batteries manufactured by its own component unit (Swider, 2017). The company had sourced the batteries used in the recalled device from both its own component unit and from a third party. The solution in this case was simple: customers with devices powered by Samsung’s own battery would trade in their….

To succeed in a highly dynamic and competitive environment, business organizations must effectively execute their planning activities. They must judiciously formulate their long- and short-term goals and objectives. This ensures better anticipation of the ever uncertain future (Hill & Jones, 2013). Effective planning also ensures better utilization of organizational resources (Wittman & Reuter, 2008). With reference to Galaxy Toys, an American toy manufacturing company, this paper explores the planning process. In the first part, a SWOT analysis of the company is provided, along with a choice and justification of the best long-term planning decision for the company. In the second part, the paper differentiates between goals and objectives based on a formulated list of goals and objectives.
Part One: SWOT Analysis and Long-Term Planning

Founded in 1956 by George Jepson and his wife, Galaxy is involved in designing, manufacturing, and selling space-themed children's toys primarily in the U.S. The company has over….

Management as a discipline is generally concerned with the art and science of getting a group of people to achieve a defined goal or objective (Griffin, 2008). The discipline has evolved significantly over the last one century or so (Roth, 1998). In the first half of the 20th century, emphasis was largely placed on structure, authority, and production; with little or no attention to employees (Adetule, 2011). There has, however, been a tremendous shift of management focus from structure and authority to people (employees) over the years (Griffin, 2008). The evolution of management theory over time depicts the ever changing role of managers or leaders in organizations. Each management orientation or school of thought, however, presents its own merits and demerits. With reference to Galaxy Toys, Inc., an American toy manufacturing company, this case study provides an analysis of how the style of management in the organization has evolved from….

Organizing
Assuming the role of Itza Yu, explain the role of a manager in the organizing phase of the POLC and identify and discuss five major issues that Itza Yu must address in organizing the production floor for both existing production and the new project

The role of a manager in the organizing phase of the POLC encompasses organizing of the team and also distribution of resources and materials in accordance to the initial plan set. Two significant elements in this phase include work assignment and granting authority. Therefore, Itza Yu has to identify the various roles and make certain that the right and fitting number of employees are assigned to undertake the plan. In addition, Itza Yu will need to delegate power, assign work, and give direction to the team (Carpenter et al., 2009). Itza Yu must address five major issues in organizing the production floor for both existing production and….

Cloud Computing
Based on what I read about the Cloud Transition Case Study involving the City of Los Angeles' attempt to reconfigure the architecture for some of its most integral information systems from an on-premise environment to a cloud one, there are a number considerations that one must make when integrating components with its legacy infrastructure. Many of these pertain to the features and capabilities -- and the differences between them -- in the two models. For instance, after agreeing to implement the cloud as a replacement for the city's on premise calendaring and electronic mailing system, the city ascertained that there were several features that played an integral role in the operations of their former systems that the cloud version simply did not support. Thus, it is necessary to list the most widely used and vital characteristics of one's current system to determine how they match up with that of….

What is Dark Matter? Observations on Galaxy GlueIntroductionDark matter is something that very little is actually known about; it is a topic that many have speculated about but none have explained completely. The term dark matter was first used by Fritz Zwicky in the 1930s to describe the matter that makes up most of what is believed to be the mass of the universe (Hossenfelde and McGaugh). In other words, Zwicky looked to the skies and tried to make sense of the seemingly all-prevalent matter that does not emit or absorb or reflect light at all. In fact, the only way anyone knows dark matter exists at all is through its effects: gravitational pull, radiation, and the overall structure of the universe itself, which suggests that dark matter must be present. With that said, however, the best that anyone has been able to do to date is hypothesize about what….

However, unlike other spiral galaxies found scattered throughout the universe, the black hole which is assumed to exist in the center of the Milky Way galaxy is dormant and is not "actively feeding," meaning that it is not currently swallowing up material for some unknown reason. Almost from the beginning of astronomical observations of galactic bodies in the universe, it has always been thought that "the more massive the bulge, the more massive the black hole" which has led scientists and astronomers to reason that "somehow the formation and growth of galaxy bulges and their central black holes are intimately connected." ut in 2003 when the Spitzer Space Telescope began to be utilized to collect infrared data from a number of different types of galaxies, scientists discovered that thin or slender galaxies which lack prominent central bulges did indeed contain supermassive black holes.
During a recent study with the Spitzer….

Quasars and Distant Galaxies
How primeval matter cast with uniformity in all directions by an assumed violent explosion, called the ig ang, gathered together into vast groups of starts and galaxies that evolved into the universe remains a mystery (Peterson 1990). There have been speculations about its origins, pieced together and offering new standards against which theories could be tested and measured. Some of these speculations involved cosmic strings, global textures and late-time phase transitions, notions too strange to merit acceptance. Cosmologists have to reconcile separate and contradictory observations in explaining the origins of galaxies and the structure of the universe, such as the receding of galaxies from one another and the astonishingly uniform glow of invisible radiation in the universe known as the cosmic microwave background, the left-over heat from the creation of the universe. These observations and the abundance of hydrogen, helium and lithium resulting from the initial explosion….

The Formation and Evolution of Galaxies

One of the greatest and possibly most important questions about our universe is how it originated. Astronomer Sandy Faber of California's Lick Observatory states that, "Galaxies are the building blocks of the universe, and therefore one of the greatest questions of modern astronomy is to understand how they form." (Chaikin)

Galaxy is usually understood as a cluster or aggregate of stars - combined gas and dust - held together by gravity. Galaxies come in three main types: ellipticals, spirals, and irregulars. (The Galaxies) There are a number of theories about the formation of galaxies. Two predominant theories are the ottom-Up and Top-Down theories. The ottom-Up theory states that the Universe started from small particles of mass that came together to form galaxies, which evolved into clusters and then super-clusters. (ibid) The second theory - the Top-Down theory - states that "vast pancaked-shaped clouds of matter provided….

3. Internal ate of eturn

The internal rate of return is used by economists and investors to identify the expected financial outcome of a given project. It is generally accepted that the final value of the internal return will vary from the initial calculations, but it is still relevant as the proportions in modifications will tend to remain relatively constant. The internal rate of return can be perceived similarly to the growth rate a project is expected to return and given this situation, the project with the highest I will be the one to be selected by the organization (Investopedia, 2009).

Internal rates of return for the four alternative investment projects are: project A -- 21%, project B -- 25%, project C -- 24% and project D -- 23%. Based on this measured rates, the most desirable course of action for Galaxy Satellite Co. is investment project B, with the highest I….

Science teachers can utilize this article by updating their curriculum related to the universe. While textbooks currently being used convey the traditional notions of the past, newer developments need to be incorporated immediately. Most current aspects of science seem to change rapidly. Astronomers such as Fabio Governato from the University of Washington have demonstrated how supercomputers can be used to replicate the activities in space, which are invisible to our telescopes. Using the components of the article to make a presentation on the latest developments in the field of space and technology can be a good approach. While most students would consider this just like any other class, it might stand out to some intelligent ones who could build a career in this area. Science teachers can observe this article from a broader point-of-view, search for similar articles and satisfy their personal research interests.

Scientists often focus on a particular problem….

Case Study- Contracts Law

There were two offers. There is an offer is a meeting of the minds can be reached by the recipient of the offer accepting the terms of the offer. The first offer was by Galaxy Computer store and consisted of Galaxy placing an ad in the paper for Pentium 4 computers for $3,000. The second offer was by Gabrielle and consisted of her offering a her old computer as a trade-in, $1,000 down, and monthly payments in lieu of $3,000 in exchange for the computer. Because Gabrielle made a counter-offer to Galaxy's offer, there were two offers.

There was acceptance of the contract. Acceptance means that the party to whom the offer was directed consents to its terms and agrees to the formation of the contract. There was no acceptance by Gabrielle of Galaxy's offer of a computer in exchange for $3,000. Instead, Gabrielle made a counter-offer….

Harlow Shapley provided some useful information in determining some of the greatest mysterious about the cosmos. Shapley essentially believed that sun was not the center point of the galactic frontier. In the first decade of the 29th century not much was known about the Milky Way but Shapley soon hypothesized some useful arguments that suggested that our universe is much larger and diverse than we can possibly imagine.
To support his argument about a non-heliocentric theory of the galactic composition, he used the powerful technology available to measure a type of celestial object known as Cepheid stars. Shapley used the behavior of these stars to determine that sun was not the center of the galaxy. By assuming that these stars were the nearly the same size he figured he could measure the luminosity of these stars and therefore figure out a linear distance to the stars. Using these distances, and some….

Electromagnetic waves are energy waves produced by the oscillation or acceleration of an electric charge. They include radio waves, microwaves, infrared light, visible light, ultraviolet light, x-rays, and gamma rays. Their wavelengths in meters are: radio waves (0.1 to 1000), microwaves (1 x 10-3 ~ 1 x 10-1); infrared (7 x 10-7 ~1 x 10-3); visible light (4 x 10-7 ~ 7 x 10-7); ultraviolet rays (1 x 10-8 ~ 4 x 10-7); x-rays (1 x 10-11 ~ 1 x 10-8) and gamma rays (< 1 x 10-11).
Scientists have inferred that such great amounts of energy as produced by the Sun (4x1026 watts per second) can only be the result of nuclear fusion

If such energy were produced through the most efficient chemical reaction, the Sun would not last for more than a few thousand years. Evidence suggests that the lifespan of the Sun is in billions of years; hence the….

By pointing straight up, it is emulating the church steeple, pointing perhaps to God, and Creator that has brought the stars and the moon and the clouds and the land to the people so they could build a village. In the village the lights are on in many of the houses, or are those bright windows merely reflecting the starry splendor from above?
In conclusion, Van Gogh's painting "Starry Night" received a great deal of exposure when Don McLean sang the song in 1970. Many listeners likely did not know at first the song was about Vincent Van Gogh, but a careful review of the lyrics clearly indicates that the song was an ode to the great expressionist. The painting will endure long after the song though. It will endure as long as humankind is still on the planet. And the planet is better for the fact that artists like….

The very best thing about writing an essay about the meaning of life is that it is very difficult to be wrong.  The meaning of life is a very personal topic and also very subjective, so you have room to be very creative in your response.  In fact, one of the most famous popular works to discuss the meaning of life, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, concluded that the meaning of life was the number 42.  So, please feel free to be creative.  However, while being creative, keep in mind that....
