Graduate Degree
Why I Chose to Pursue a Master's Degree
In today's educational environment, breadth as well as depth in education is encouraged. Even scientists are encouraged to take courses in writing, and students of literature must become conversant in the specifics of genetics as well as hermeneutics. And students of business must understand psychology as well as finance and corporate case histories. However, once one passes the undergraduate level, there comes a time where specificity rather than generality is the goal of one's education. Rather than courses that merely survey a subject area, a student craves the ability to study something in a systematic fashion, and in greater depth. Moreover, as fewer and fewer undergraduate degrees require less and less independent research, gaining a master's degree not only gives a student a greater access to course work with a higher level of concentration, but also gives a student greater time…...

The Value Today of Pursuing a Graduate Degree in the Humanities
Even prospective college applicants to undergraduate institutions of learning are encouraged today, to market themselves on their applications as 'products' of value. They make it unabashedly clear that they are potential human dividends that will return the university's investment in their education, in the form of high ratings in U.S. News and World Report College rankings as well as in alumni contributions. The competitive nature of the job market has also caused many current college students to view the attainment of a degree as simply another bullet point on their resume, rather than a holistic learning experience. Those who do go onto graduate school increasingly chose to pursue professionally oriented or technically oriented, specialized degrees, such as an MBA, a JD, or even a MA in educational technology. In such an environment, what is the value and place of…...
I know success, good business, entrepreneurship is out there. And I know that an MBA is going to be the first step toward getting it. An MBA will help me realize the success I need.
My relevant background consists of two influential, formative experiences: the attainment of my bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Sharjhah in United Arab Emirates and my three years spent working as a retail manager at T-Mobile. These experiences have created a business-oriented foundation on which I plan to build in the future, and more immediately, during my pursuit of a MBA.
I couldn't have hoped for a better, more enriching exposure to a diverse set of intelligent peers than the one I had at University of Sharjhah. During the course of my experience at this university -- the majority of students at University of Sharjhah are international -- I developed a broad understanding of…...
Business and Entrepreneurship)
If I were to describe myself in a single word, it would be 'fluent.' I have striven to make myself fluent in a variety of languages and cultures so my skill set can be adaptable to my current workplace and to the workplace of the future. For example, in my role as a marketing assistant for Pepsi Co. In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I found myself working for an American company that was attempting to solidify its market base in the Middle East. I had to translate the all-American appeal of Pepsi to a foreign setting, and persuade consumers in a manner that was culturally comprehensible that Coca-Cola was not 'it,' and they should try the Pepsi brand.
As part of my work for Pepsi, I designed and crafted marketing materials, spanning from articles, brochures, projects, press releases, and event announcements, to company newsletters, trade-show passes, and reports, to…...
BSN Degree: Pathway to Professional Nursing
BSN Pros and Cons
Nursing education goals must adapt to changes in healthcare policy in order to better serve the needs of patients. Beginning in 1965, the American Nurses Association took a position that promoted academic degree programs as a way to foster the development of an autonomous nursing profession. This position necessarily rejected the value of the hospital-based diploma programs in existence at the time. This policy was based on the perceived need to improve the quality of patient care by creating professional nurses trained to take on a variety of roles, including healthcare management, nursing education, and nursing research. Although there is real value in earning an associate degree in nursing, the BSN degree is the requisite entry point for anyone interested in professional nursing and the many roles that entails. The BSN degree is also a prerequisite for further career development involving graduate…...

Networking in Student Affairs
Student Affairs Networking
Graduate students who will be moving into work in higher education and student affairs have much to consider, including professional development and networking. Ideally, that networking should start well before graduation is imminent, because it allows the student to develop contacts in the professional world before he or she moves into that world on a more permanent basis. Students who have professional contacts before they finish graduate school are more likely to see success in the working world in an earlier time frame, which can help those students make the transition from educational institution to professional working environment more easily.
While this type of networking and development does not guarantee success, it is one of the most significant things a student can do to move toward career placement and advancement in his or her chosen field. The literature that is addressed in Chapter Two will focus…...

Social Work Statement of Purpose
While some people may be able to point to a distinct time or place in their lives when they knew how they wanted to make their livelihood, for others, the path to a profession cannot be mapped so precisely. My motivation to seek a Master's Social Work (MSW) degree is rooted in diverse experiences in both my personal and occupational lives.
I grew up in a family with a strong sense of community. In my extended family, some members had limited resources but they still found ways to be of help to their neighbors. When I think back to the years of my upbringing, I remember that many people in my family and community communicated their values to me, and expected me to assume a helpful stance in my life. As I grew, those expectations did too, and I learned that an aspect of my upbringing was…...
Nursing Education
Education is an important quality that can be very beneficial to any given profession. The specialization of education in today's world serves purposes and offers new challenges. This is most evident when comparing the differences in competencies between nurses prepared at the associate-degree level (AND)versus the baccalaureate degree level (BSN). The purpose of this essay is to describe these differences and compare their varying tendencies and qualities. Additionally, this essay will address a patient care situation that highlights how nursing care may differ upon the educational level of the nursing professional.

The associates degree earned in a nursing education allows that individual to contribute to the medical profession and minimize the educational requirements to do so. While some may consider this a short cut and not going the full distance, there are good reasons that these programs are offered and thousands of people participate in them.
There are many good reasons…...

As part of my studies in terrorism and homeland security which were a requirement of my military service, I have come to understand the need for strong intelligence, culturally-astute law enforcement, and effective security protocols when dealing with threats from within as well as from without.
Homeland security remains one of the most vitally necessary components of law enforcement, as seen by the recent alerts raised regarding potential terrorist attacks threatening our nation's major cities. The exciting aspect of this field is that it is constantly changing -- just as America's enemies are always looking for new ways to attack the U.S., law enforcement officials within this specialty must have a flexible and open-minded approach, so they too can change with the needs posed by the environment. I would like to have a substitutive impact in terms of my future career, and I believe that I have the potential to…...
Value of a BA Degree
The Value of BA Degrees
Would you say this statement is "True" or "False"? Too many people are going to college these days. Many experts in business say that the statement is true. People once thought that college degrees were the most important advantage that people could attain through their own efforts (uiz 2011). But the situation is changing. A look at employees and entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley underscores a more pessimistic and sobering view of college education (uiz 2011). People who work in technical jobs without the benefit of formal coursework in higher education can be free to follow their interests and creativity (uiz 2011). These new technology experts don't need to get locked into boring corporate jobs that pay well in order to pay off enormous student loan debt burdens (uiz 2011). The cost of higher education keeps rising and there are those who…...

Social services are considered to be one of the most activities for the development and improvement of a society, especially in the developed Western societies. Recognizing the importance of social services and feeling responsible as a citizen of the society to make some contributions, I decided to join this profession. I am associated with this profession from the last 15 years and I believe that I have been successful enough in terms of professional growth in this field as well as in terms of my contributions to the society. During the perusal of my assignments at work, I always felt pleasure to help out the troubled families. Resolving the problems of families at risk always made me feel proud. Helping out the families to stay together is…...
Stratford High graduate (1991), Houston Texas, I gained my first exposure to the importance of applying management principles in High School, when I owned and operated a Yard Service. The experience was invaluable since it taught me the art of customer acquisition and retention and how a customer centric approach was key to success in business. During the same time, I also served as a Lifeguard at some of the neighbourhood pools, which gave me my first insights into inter-personal skills, facing as I did situations where I had to persuade and counsel some of the more dare devil kids.
I was also privileged in that I had the advantage of learning the value of academic studies from my mother who was a Junior High Science and Tech teacher, while being able to reflect on the challenges of experiential situations through my father who worked as a Petroleum Engineer for Shell…...

Even a manager from a non-engineering background can appreciate the value of efficiency and saving time. Someone once said to me that the key to being a good engineer was developing a solution for a dollar in ten minutes that would take a non-engineer ten dollars and ten hours to solve. Error-free efficiency in the shortest time possible is critical to best business practices in a variety of fields. Continuous improvement is always the goal of any good engineering practice. Being independent, self-motivated, and able to complete assignments with minimum supervision has always been my strengths, but I look forward to sharing my experiences with other students, and learning from their diverse backgrounds.

This prompt appears to be related to a graduate school admission essay and should, ideally, draw upon your personal experience. It is difficult to advise you about what to write, because we simply do not have the information from you to answer those questions. Are you going to be in the same field? Are you entering the business world for the first time? What has led you to choose this particular career? Graduate school admission essays are a little different from college admission essays, because they are a little easier for admissions offices to fact-check.
