Talents aren't things developed. One is born with talent -- a natural propensity for accuracy and efficiency in particular tasks. A knack for a certain intellectual task. Skills, on the other hand, are things learned, practiced, and known; they're the result of schooling, training, and experience. I believe that skills can be thought of, in a sense, as the theory behind reality. In other words, skills are most appropriately consolidated and built upon one's talents, and one excels at his profession when he marries the two. Conversely, one is pushed into mediocrity when she doesn't use her skills to flex her talents.
I've done the opposite. Through my formal education and my three years of experience as a retail manager at T-Mobile after graduation, I've built my skills -- creating innovative solutions to traditional problems, strong leadership capabilities, and customer care -- upon my talent -- business intuition. In other…
constantly endeavor to better myself in both my personal and professional life. My choice to pursue an MBA reflects this continual effort of self-improvement. Having already obtained a Master of Science degree in Information Systems on top of by Bachelor of Science in software engineering, I spent the past six years in the computer industry. My current position with Interpro Software, a consulting company, is rewarding and reflects my educational background, but I am ready to approach the tech industry from the business end. One of my immediate goals is to help Interpro grow, through effective management and organization. I already have the technical skills with which to assist my company; now I seek business know-how. Therefore, an MBA degree is indispensable in achieving my short- and long-term goals.
Working for a start-up company like Interpro has introduced me to the importance of effective business management. A developing company requires…
ROTC
Describe career aspirations and how successful completion of the MBA program will relate to my goals as a military officer / ROTC. What do I expect to learn, and how will I apply that knowledge? What specific benefits do I anticipate?
My military experience has and always will be the most important influence in my life. Being a soldier taught me what true leadership entails. Through my participation in the military, I have learned that leadership is not simply telling others what to do, but setting an example others can follow. It has taught me to motivate others in a profound and powerful way. It has taught me the value of having a sense of mission in the leadership I offer. When a leader is clear about the direction in which he or she is heading; the reasons for the mission; and the goals of the enterprise, this invests…
laptop on the tray table in front of me. Business class roominess is so much more conducive to getting work done, I think, as my spreadsheet application opens. Legs casually crossed in front of me, cranberry juice at my side, I review my work on the company's financial statements. It's been a great quarter for my pet venture, which I launched just a year ago. It hasn't been entirely easy but once I received my MBA from the University of Florida, my career mushroomed. After working for many years with such prestigious companies as Shell and Motiva, I launched my own business venture based on the knowledge and skills I gleaned over the years. Looking down at the vanishing earth beneath our airliner, I reflected on what it took to get me where I am now.
In 2001 my first big break arrived when I landed my first position with…

Education is a crucial component of success. Both personal and professional development is a critical aspect of becoming not only a better businessman, but also, a better person. As such, an MBA is a necessary step in my personal development process. My extensive background has created a strong platform by which to continue this development. Within the document below, I will aim to address my extensive professional background, why it is applicable to an MBA degree, and why these skills will not require a GRE/GMAT assessment.
My previous experience in a management capacity has provided skills that are well suited for graduate study. From my previous experiences in the social service, management, and customer service fields, I am well prepared to handle the fast paced course load of an MBA program. Apart from my solid undergraduate performance, I have acquired practical experience through my various internships and work experience.…
admired staff members, Babar Butt, for your MBA program. Babar is a focused, creative problem solver who communicates well with colleagues and customers. We appreciate Babar at Bismil Inc. For his ability to anticipate the needs of customers, organize sales, and motivate staff members.

One of Babar's greatest strengths as a store manager is his ability to quickly internalize characteristics of new product lines, and to anticipate customers' needs. He then articulates product selling points and trains his team to present the products in exciting ways. He also shows unusual intuition of various markets, and a seemingly infinite amount of creative ideas.

goal is to attend an MBA graduate program in accounting. This degree will provide me with the depth and breadth of knowledge that I require to achieve my career goals. I strongly believe that I have the academic potential, and more importantly, the determination and strength of character to succeed both in graduate school and larger society.
I feel that strong, educated, and ethical accountants are needed more than ever in a business environment that is still reeling from alleged improprieties of firms like Arthur Anderson's in the Enron scandal. My experience as an accounting major at Temple University has given me both a deep and abiding love of the profession, and a strong desire to make a contribution to the field of accounting. An MBA will give me the invaluable skills and experiences that I need to make a contribution to the larger business world.

pursued my undergraduate degree in Accounting at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, I experienced a revelation: that success is within my reach, and if I can achieve prosperity despite the obstacles placed before me, then anyone with a blend of luck, desire, and character can do the same. Of course the luck aspect is what makes life unfair; the painful reality that no matter how hard some people work they will not have the necessary opportunities or innate talents necessary to achieve their dreams. This was an especially significant realization because of my unique global journey, and the fact that my brand of luck came from the most important person in my life -- my Mother.
When I was a (high school?) student in a tiny town in Pakistan, my Mother gave me the great honor of choosing to gamble her entire life savings on…

MBA (Master of Business Administration) is generally regarded as a ticket of financial success and individuals who graduate from one of the top ranking universities are always being paid the six figure salaries. Based on the high salary ticket that MBA offers, a Master of Business Administration is generally being considered as a very valuable degree especially when the degree is being offered by the top ranking universities in the United States. In the United States, MBA graduates often receive twice of the salaries of pre-MBA graduates from the same university. With high value that MBA offers within the labor market, employers often offer incredible income for MBA graduates in the United States.
However, when analyzing the value of an MBA, it is critical to analyze the starting salary of an MBA graduate, which is just part of the methods to value an MBA degree. More importantly, the…

MA for some time now has become the hot ticket for the young and the ambitious; it is for this reason that there has been a tenfold increase in the MA graduates in the recent years. Despite this increase there still remains a seed of doubt within the minds of many individuals whether to opt for an MA or not.

The MBA Decision
1. Ben's age affects his decision to get an MBA because the MBA increases his annual earnings. The incremental financial benefit of the MBA will amount to more money, the longer Ben's remaining working career is. Thus, the younger Ben is, the more benefit he will get from obtaining an MBA.
2. There are some nonquantifiable factors that Ben may wish to take into account. For example, he might look at his current family situation – he may have a baby on the way, sick parents, or some other factor that might cause his to delay the MBA or to change his plans to go away. He might be able to work with his current company to achieve an MBA part-time, which would allow him to obtain the degree without career disruption. Ben might also want to examine if the MBA supports his goal. Because he wants…
benefit-Costs of pursuing an MA
Even though each of us has his/her own perspective of happiness and sense of life, we all agree that the integral part of these are the financial stability complemented by personal professional success. That is why we all strive very hard to achieve ambitious financial and professional goals and choose our own paths to them. ut through historical and empirical evidence it has become clear that on average, the better education one has, the better are one's chances of fulfilling the boldest dreams.
We, Americans, spend millions of dollars on our education, which we consider as investment in our human capital. According to the public opinion research conducted by the Educational Testing Service: "Nearly all (96%) adults believe that a college education is a good investment, including 72% who say it is a very good investment."

Journey
Who knew that BA studies would be so rewarding? This essay summarizes my learnings, both personal and professional, during the course of studying for a aster of Business Administration post-graduate degree.
In the course of reflecting on program learnings, I discuss acquiring or improving the following skills:
How to thrive in an online environment.
Communicating online with good manners.
Reading and writing analytically.
Team building and problem solving skills.
The class that I found most valuable was BUS 530 Project anagement, which sharpened my critical thinking and organizational skills.
y critique of the program includes the following criticisms and observations:
There was not enough networking with fellow students.
Some classes lacked audio lectures.
Developing advanced writing skills was challenging but worthwhile.
Faculty input was helpful.
Small class size was helpful.
Reflecting on self-learning I found:
I am now more comfortable taking risks.
I am excited about facing future challenges.…
More than anything else, I credit my MBA journey with helping me be comfortable with taking risks. I received my undergraduate degree in 1974, and for one reason or another, was not able to start graduate school until more than 30 years later. By that time, I questioned whether I had the right stuff to acquire an MBA. Would I be able to balance school with my job and personal responsibilities? What tradeoffs would I have to make? Would it be worth it? Could I keep up with the pace? What if I changed my mind half-way through the program? Could my brain absorb all that knowledge without exploding?
These were the questions I pondered before deciding to attempt an MBA. I admit that the questions kept recurring even after I started taking classes. At some point though, I knew I was going to make it. Along with a sense of relief, I felt my confidence building, understanding that it is indeed okay to take risks. Having experienced doubts and uncertainty along the way just makes success that much sweeter. And having taken a while to achieve a long-time goal just makes me eager to take on the next challenge.
Deciding to venture so far outside my comfort zone is paying dividends in other areas too. I find that now when I'm faced with the unknown, I have fewer self-doubts and more enthusiasm for the task ahead. With MBA in hand, I am about to begin a new chapter in my life, and I could not be more excited. I am going forward to meet my future with newfound leadership and management skills.
pursuing an MA degree at this time in your life? What characteristic about Pepperdine's program made you decide to apply to Pepperdine specifically? What expectations do you have of Pepperdine's MA program?
In this ever shifting world where the only constant thing is change, with the gradual rise and fall of business and economy and the stiff competition among professionals, one must be able to value what quantity of knowledge he has attained and acquired. It is at this point in time wherein individuals must consider all necessary aspects and phases in his life and career. It is at that instance to broaden the horizon in terms of wisdom and education. I maintain that timing is everything in all of my endeavors.

The survey found that entry level accountants needed to be better equipped to use their skills in business situations, to determine accounting issues and audit business risks, and to effectively communicate with management. As a result of this survey and other debates the CPA exam was changed in 2004 to make it more conducive to the situations that candidates would face in real life business environments.
Although the newer tests are designed to certified those with the best skills, it also reduces the number of people who will pass the test. For this reason some firms are offering incentives to those candidates that are able to pass the test. The article explains that because the certification is essential to progress and career development in accounting as well as the profitability of a business providing an incentive for passing the exam is beneficial to exam takers and businesses (Charron & Lowe 2009).
Overall CPAs are simply in demand in a manner that MBAs are not. The research indicates that CPAs have more specialized skills that are needed and sought after.. The demand for these skills are both national and global. Even though there are some benefits associated with having an MBA, these benefits are outweigh by the advantages associated with a CPA and therefore accountants with a CPA license rather than an MBA degree have a better chance of getting hired, advance and succeed in the public accounting field.
application/admission. There are several qualities that should be present in an MBA candidate. A person should be clear in their desire to be a candidate because the expense is high, but well worth the effort.
MY DESIRE TO BE AN MBA CANDIDATE
My desire to be an MBA candidate is based on my work experience and my ability to be able to promote myself in achieving the best that I can be. It is my desire to be able to learn more about business across many different disciplines. I have accomplished a lot in my work history, but I want to be able to achieve more. Having my MBA degree will help me to promote myself even better in the business world.

decision to enter an MBA program should take into account a number of factors. The financial part of the evaluation essentially takes into the expected improvements in earnings, and weighs these against the cost of the program. This is basically an NPV calculation. Therefore, Ben's age is a factor, because the younger he is, the more years of earning he will have. By accelerating his career path at a younger age, Ben will also have a higher ceiling.
There are a number of nonquantifiable factors that Ben would take into account. His family situation is one consideration. The MBA program will require a significant investment in his time and energy, not to mention money. The degree to which his family (if he has one) can bear losing his time, attention and earnings will have an impact on his ability and desire to pursue an MBA.

Currently, the world economy stands at a seminal juncture in its development. On our own shores, we see that the American economy is poised at a critical stage. The American economy is recouping itself after the feverish activity of the 1990's, recovering from the business world's nearly unquestioned faith in the progress of technology and the virtues of the Internet. At present, economic growth is on the increase once again, yet consumer confidence remains low because of the indeterminacy in the business world of where is the next and best way to expand. The European Community is still struggling what the 'C' -- as in community -- In the term 'EC' really…

In other words, I hope that the curriculum will help me to better develop myself as a business man, and to make me more marketable.
Of course, I have repeatedly found myself in positions of leadership throughout my career and personal life. I am comfortable in these positions, and those around me are often willing to place their trust in my decision making capabilities. Regardless of the mode by which power is bestowed, leadership, in all situations tends to follow distinctive patterns: it occurs as an event, it involves the relationship between the leaders and followers, it reaches beyond formal authority, it develops in times of need, it requires individual perception, and it requires application of that perception. Leadership is a complex phenomenon and can be difficult to understand, especially from the standpoint of those involved. I have taken the lead in my brief career always in this informal manner,…

Personality and MBA Studies
There are various personalities that are displayed by different people in the society. That is what makes up a diverse society. The personality that I am considered to be is the innovative, individualistic, versatile and entrepreneurial personality. At times this is referred to as Jungian 16-Type Personality specifically the ENTP character. This is because I am resourceful, creative, and quick in the intellectual field. I also like to engage in debates and am excited over new ideas and always assertive as well as outspoken. I like having people around me and I have that ability to grasp concepts and apply logic to get amicable solutions (BSM Consulting Inc., 2011).
Apart from my character traits, there are those values that I hold dearly to and would like to see myself applying in life and getting from life as well. Values, according to National Defense University (2011) are…

Completing the MBA program will build on my existing bachelor's degree of business administration in marketing and provide me with the professional credentials I need to continue my relationship building with key members of the Kuwaiti financial services industry. In addition, completing the MBA program will provide me with the enhanced business acumen that is needed to compete effectively in the 21st century marketplace as well as the ability to apply what I have learned from the course work in the workplace. Finally, from a strictly pragmatic perspective, completing the MBA program will also help me earn far more over the course of my career than I could likely earn otherwise and allow me to contribute to organizational success in more meaningful ways.

First, there are some characteristics that differentiate leaders from nonleaders, although experts disagree on whether these traits are inherent or can be learned. However, there is little disagreement that certain types of leadership are better suited to certain working situations. Furthermore, successful organizations are those who manage to find a way to match up leaders to their most appropriate working situation. In addition, different approaches to management need varying levels of leadership. Also, some organizations rely on a group leadership approach, which de-emphasizes the role of any single leader.
One of the most interesting aspects of OB is that a proper understanding of it can help one determine who will make a successful leader. In fact, the five components of EI, self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills, help determine who will become a leader. According to obbins, "the higher the rank of a person considered to be a star…

Tell use about your career goals. How do you envision an MBA from Auburn University will help you achieve these goals? Are there other reasons you are interested in pursuing an MBA at Auburn?
After earning an MBA from Auburn, I intend to work in the business world for a small or mid-sized firm where I can get hands-on experience and learn the ropes, but my ultimate goal is to own my own business. While I am open to a myriad of options, I do have some solid ideas about the type of business I would like to own and operate, specifically, a firm that provides personal assistant services to middle-income people who can't afford or don't need a full-time personal assistant. This service would be on a contract basis, providing people with specific services, such as dry cleaning drop off and pick up, or computer back-ups, or…

One thing that I think would be infinitely fascinating is to take a trip to Memphis and spend the night at the FedEx facility there, watching as hundreds of airplanes come in from all over the world, disgorge millions of packages, and within a few hours are loaded up again to return to their destinations. I have always had an interest in that company, and not just because Fred Smith is a retired Marine, the same as I am. I have always had a great interest in logistics, the art and science of getting goods from one place to another, when you need them to be there. While the FedEx operations in Memphis would have tremendous visual appeal, I am equally impressed with the logistics technology employed by Wal-Mart, and by the ability of the resource sector to get heavy equipment to the most remote and inhospitable places…
grandmother used to say to me in her native Russian, "Do whatever you love; money flows from love, not the other way around." I have always heeded her advice and never hesitated to pursue career paths that fulfilled and stimulated me. Accounting is the professional path that I have been following eagerly for many years, and although my education is still unfinished, I am already reaping the personal rewards of going after my dreams. Several years ago I commenced my studies at Pace University. An already focused student when I enrolled, I immediately set my goals on getting my accounting degree in as little time as possible. Therefore, the accelerated Bachelor's/Master's program was one of the main reasons why I selected to study at Pace. I had anticipated a tough ride, with challenging coursework, expanded awareness of the business world, and in-depth reports and projects. What I did not foresee…
Color choice, however, is highly consistent across all marketing materials, creating at least some sense of cohesion. Positioning of the course is focused on the flexibility of the program's scheduling and course offerings as well as the diversity of the professional backgrounds that students in the program possess; the actual offerings of the course are described only in vague detail in most marketing materials, with encouragement for students to contact the school and preferably to attend regular information sessions. Marketing activities include multiple small ads placed in business-relevant media that present the school's name and logo, again with consistent color-coding, but that do not offer in-depth presentations of program offerings or extensive detail about the school.
Analysis
The color coding and scant use of school name and logo appears to be consistent across programs, and most marketing efforts are not program specific but rather simply advertise the school itself, which…

In principle, the issue pointed out by Einstein applies equally to "overly ambitious" first home buyers in the half-million dollar range as to Wall Street debt traders for whom that same amount represents the price of water craft more than primary residences. Obviously, the comparison was not something completely foreign to me before, but the words of Einstein impressed the idea on me in a more meaningful way nevertheless, especially in combination with some of his other observations, such as:
The aim (of education) must be the training of independently acting and thinking individuals who, however, can see in the service to the community their highest life achievement.... Never regard your study as…

One of the most fascinating aspects about pursuing a degree in engineering is that, although engineering is applied science and mathematics, it is, in many ways also a very isolated academic discipline. Engineers tend to be separate from other students, do not have the same core class requirements as other students or freedom to pick elective courses as other students, and must develop their degree plans at an earlier time period than students pursuing other degree programs. This focus gives a rigidity that allows engineers to graduate from universities in a unique position. When one looks at groups of highly respected professionals, engineers who have obtained only their bachelor's degrees are perceived by many people to be among the ranks of professionals with graduate degrees, in part because people understand that an undergraduate education in an engineering discipline differs in tone, rigor, and depth from an…

Constructive discharge materializes when an employee's only option is to quit their place of employment due to the employer making working conditions unbearable. In the scenario with the religious employee, the employee made it clear that he/she cannot work on a holy day due to his/her religious principles that are guarded under Title VII of the Civil ights Act of 1964. This mandatory shift forced on the employee created an unbearable condition in his/her workplace. Unbearable conditions may consist of: discrimination, harassment, or getting an undesirable modification in reimbursement or work for aims that are not professional.
Because the work shifts fell on days of religious observance for the employee and the company did not yield in providing an alternative shift, schedule, or option for the employee, he/she was faced with diminished work or to leave the job and quit thus creating an unbearable work condition. While employees who willingly…

Personal Statement
I grew up in a business-oriented family. While some children talk about what they did in school over dinner, from an early age I was involved in discussing my family's business every evening. Instead of how to throw a baseball, my father and grandparents taught me how to interpret the share index numbers that flashed across the television screen. I looked forward to opening up my own business when I grew up rather than the usual childish fantasies of becoming a superhero. To me, businessmen were superheroes.
I was determined to do all that was necessary to prepare me for a future in the new global marketplace. After graduating from high school I made the difficult but necessary decision to leave home and study in America to prepare me for my future career in finance. America was the logical choice: although the initial period of adjustment was challenging,…
disrupting America's economic system is a fundamental objective of terrorists
Even as the world continues to struggle with the terrible shock from the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington, one principle lesson has already become clear: disrupting our economic system is a fundamental objective of terrorists.
Prior to September 11, our economic environment was certainly not immune to terror, in comparison to many other nations; we lived relatively terror-free. Now, however, the aftermath of the terrorist attacks serves as a grim reminder that international relations and security developments can dramatically affect economic performance.
US History is replete with countless examples when macro fundamentals are overtaken by what economists refer to as, exogenous shocks -- surprise events that can profoundly and often unpredictably shift political and economic resources, and send even the most accurate forecasts astray. Commodity shocks, such as the two OPEC jolts in the 1970s, are classic…

However, it is also an imperfect method, based on a set of assumptions. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the quality of the assumptions. Because the assumptions regarding future cash flows can be wildly inaccurate, it is best to include some non-quantifiable evaluations as well.
For Ben, the most important is the degree to which the MBA will help him meet his short- and long-term career objectives. He needs to discuss the issue with people in the industry to help him determine that the MBA is a vital component to his objectives. He has assumed that it is, but if it is not, he will ultimately be dissatisfied with the decision even in the event that he achieves his desired income levels.
5. In strictly financial terms, for Ben to be indifferent between attending Wilson University and retaining his current position, the two options would need to have…
Private programs tend to be more expensive than those offered at public schools, although there are certainly some exceptions to this generalization, and this threatens private programs' ability to attract students to the same degree as public universities, especially because job security and longevity are increasingly uncertain in this day and age (Cornell 2010; Carlson 2010; Montauk 2007). This pricing difference is one of the largest threats facing private MBA programs the world over, and there is not always a great deal that can be done to counter this threat, though private universities do have more leeway in granting scholarships and subsidizing education for specifically selected individual students that they believe would be assets to the school Pritzwalks 2010).
In addition to the practical threat facing private MBA programs and private universities generally due to their higher costs of attendance, there is also a more abstract threat in the perception…

CEO of Harley Davidson
The Harley Davidson Company came to be in 1903, founded by William Harvey and Arthur Davidson. In 1907, the two associates incorporated the Harvey Davidson Motor Company leading to a split of stock into four, to cater for the new associate Walter Davidson. Over the years, Harley Davidson has managed to remain financially stable, despite the prior records of slowed growth, owing to the maturing market that results to low growth rates for all companies dealing with motorcycles (Mark, Tycen and Jordan 1987). The motorcycles from the company used by the military, and to date, have become an American representation because of the many Harley Rallies around the globe (Mark, Tycen and Jordan 1987).
The success of the company does not only lay in the many investments, or rather the money it has, but also the management of the company, and its workforce. The company practices…

In order to be more competitive, it had recently hired two business managers. Yes, they did have more experience than the MBAs right out of school. Yet, no, despite their $350,000.00 income, they know little about how hospitals are run. The running joke is, apparently, that they are trying to institute programs that may be great for global corporations, but hot medical centers.
What does Mintzberg suggest is a way to resolve this situation? He believes that management education should only be for those individuals who have some experience overseeing personnel. In addition, business schools should not produce heroic managers but "engaging managers," or leaders who support those under them, encourage input and best practices from everyone when developing strategy, and rewarding all personnel when the organization succeeds.
He also looks at the other developed countries to see if they may have another approach. Although MBA programs are rare in…

After learning so much from the business world, I wish to add to that learning with the more formally acquired skills of the classroom. I also wish to learn from my fellow MBA students, and to embark more upon team projects, sharing my work and life skills as all of us work hard, together, to succeed. I am interested to sample from a diversity of experiences within the business world, of different business spheres, from the examples, skills, and professional experiences and aspirations of my classmates.
An MBA is an unusual graduate degree, in that it attempts to take individuals from the job market, often whom have, like myself, been employed at professional occupations, and by giving them an academic orientation and grounding in certain intellectual skills and rubrics. It also encourages candidates to bring their pre-existing skills, experiences, and attributes to the program to enhance the education others as…
==> With over ten years of administrative, managerial, retail and title work experience and degrees in accounting and public administration, I hope to share with my colleagues what I have learned and experienced in teamwork, communication, leadership, business ethics and human resource strategies. I believe that my positive outlook and enthusiasm will encourage my peers to explore their full potential and to use their education to find a personal sense of purpose and vision.
Real-world business challenges that the candidate currently faces that might be explored using the knowledge that the candidate will attain through his or her participation in the MBA program.==>

I want to also understand how to add serve them and deliver quality services and products, and how to be profitable doing it. I'm also very interested in how to better stay in touch with customers on a constant basis. It seems like the best companies in the world have defined processes and approaches for making sure they stay in tune with what their customers want. Apple's iPod, iTunes and now iPhone are a case in point. As Johansson and Nonaka (1987) make the point in their article, Market esearch the Japanese Way, it's not the volume of statistics generated on customers, but the relevance of the numbers that matters most. I want to gain from my MBA program how to make the entire series of strategies for the company I want to create all synchronize on one strategic goal: giving the customer exceptional value and service at a reasonable…

The financial planning process will reveal the key cost and revenue drivers at the clinic. Externally, we must product financial statements in order to secure financing. These statements will need to be professionally prepared in accordance with the prevailing accounting principles. The bank will need to see that our financial estimates are grounded in good research and south assumptions. Having these statements reduces our risk as well, since we have a better understanding of our cost structures and contribution margins.
Sustainability Elements
Though tangential to our main mission, sustainability elements can add value to our operation, depending on how they are utilized. In the health care industry, environmental concerns are generally minimal. There appears to be little opportunity to profitably incorporate such concerns into our operation, as the market in Dubai is not known to be responsive to such initiatives. That said, will be need to undertake at least cursory…
career interest is accounting. Accountancy is the process of evaluating the financial information about business entities to users such as the managers of the shareholders (Elliot, & Elliot, 2004). Accountancy falls into three areas: accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing.
I choose accounting since it will give me a solid employment with a lucrative wage and this is what is important to me. I have also learned that it can be fun in the investigative way if I se it as such. The work conditions are fine -- not too tedious and best of all I can structure them at my convenience. I can work either for an institution or be self-employed. Chances for advancement also depend on myself and, best of all, I can find global opportunities in any and every business..

pursuit of my MBA and CFA certification, is why I am interested in the business and financial world. My answer is not an academic one, but one rooted in the knowledge of how a failure to engage in appropriate financial planning can have an impact that ripples throughout one's family. I began my college education by attending Hudson County Community College (HCCC), where I initially majored in engineering. However, like many people in my age group who come from less affluent beginnings, I was unable to devote myself full-time to my studies. In addition to having the responsibility of paying for my own education, I also felt responsibility to help support my family. As a result, I did not have the time or attention that I needed to devote to my studies. My grades suffered and, in reality, I was in danger of becoming a college dropout. This would have…
The Whatever School of Business at Whatever University prepares its students well for the accounting profession but also encourages them to engage in critical debate about how to honor the different interests and demands of stakeholders at a corporation, and to balance the law with the needs of the client, regardless of whether the client is a 'real' individual or the fictional individual of a corporation. On a larger level, I believe that my experiences as an international student at Whatever will help me as an accountant student and eventually as a CPA. I am used to balancing a variety of different perspectives, as I have had to learn about the United States while learning about American and world economic systems in my classes.
In my classes at Whatever many of the students are interested to hear about the additional life experiences that I have had because I am several…
blow the whistle" on what you heard in the garden? If so, how will you blow the whistle? If you decide to blow the whistle, what are your reasons for doing so? Your discussion should reflect knowledge of what Boatright says about issues, problems and justifications for whistle-blowing. Also, in discussing the answers to these questions you should include the following: 1) you should evaluate real and potential conflicts of interests that confront you in your decision 2) you should explain how your reasoning is consistent or inconsistent with the three following moral theories: Kantian moral theory, utilitarian moral theory and virtue theory.

Our MBA is not really aware of what is going on; all he has is assumptions, guesses. He has no actual proof. In the first case, he has had suspicions of several transactions -- their accounting practices seem suspect - and he has pointed out…

Offset and digital printing often faces quality issues related to several factors. The differences and similarities that exist between offset and digital print in the quality assurance process though the two methods share common demerits. Offset printing, which is applicable to a wide range of materials, produces more frequent quality issues than digital print, which has been referred to by White (1975) as sharper and suffering from less technical constraints such as resolution. However, for digital print, resolution also serves as an issue because where a lower-resolution design is used, the print quality suffers as well. oreover, digital printers suffer from lack of digital printing standards which means providers who use digital print have few tools and…

Simulation
At the beginning of the simulation, the Neutron was a unique product in the computer world. The company could view itself as a differentiated player in the competition PC market, or it could view itself as having a monopoly on the new product. To enjoy the full benefits of monopoly pricing, there needs to be inherent demand for the product. The Neutron, however, is new. Increasing the price moves the product up the demand curve. A higher price also signals to the market that the product is unique and valuable.
At the outset, with a new product and no competitors, there are two reasonable strategies. The first is penetration pricing, which would seek to maximize demand. This does not, however, maximize profit. The finance department may not approve of this strategy because it does not offer the best return to the shareholders. Likewise, the marketing department does not want…

Reflection of the MBA Course
Studying for an MBA has required hard work long with application of existing knowledge gained at the undergraduate level in order to optimize the benefits of the current course. The current course has provided the chance to increase learning with knowledge that, when applied, will increase professional skills and abilities. The current course provided an opportunity to develop analytical skills, with a holistic approach from the initial identification and selection of analytical tools, through to the analysis process, and the utilization of findings to assess a firm's performance and determine potential changes in strategy.
To have a successful career it a senior management, or leadership, position, it is essential that one is able to undertake a comprehensive analysis of an organization, taking into account relevant internal and external environmental factors. It can be easy to take a cursory look at an organization, and believe…
programs have their supporters and detractors. The first and most obvious objection to getting an MBA is its expense. More and more undergraduates have student loan debt, and piling debt upon debt in a weak economic environment can be dangerous. However, most MBA programs require or at least expect students to have some sort of work experience before embarking upon the program. Students thus have hopefully accrued some savings. They also are likely to have a good idea of what they want to study in the program and their future goals, given their experience in their desired specialty. Unlike law schools, which have been criticized as holding pens for recent graduates without a clear career direction, to apply to an MBA program, a student must make a persuasive case for his or her potential to succeed in a hands-on field. High grades and strong scores on the MCAT are not…

During my educational career and throughout my life I have slowly learned the world is ever-changing in nature. To succeed in modern business tomorrow's leaders have to have the skills and technical knowledge that will allow them to become flexible and adaptable leaders. Eventually my goals for the future include opening and starting my own firm in the global marketplace. To do this however I need to posses more knowledge not only of the technical aspects of the business world but also of the qualities a leader must have to succeed in this environment. I feel aiming for my MBA will provide me with knowledge of global trends and problems currently affecting enterprises large and small, and help me…

Moreover, among the Healthcare/Pharmaceutical skills that employers in this survey believe should "be strengthened" through MBA programs, are: "ability to make decisions with imperfect information"; "ability to think strategically"; and "written communication skills."
In conclusion, I wish to address another question which was posed for this essay, "What are your concerns about your ability to be successful in an MBA program?" My concerns are related to how high I can go in my MBA program scholastic achievement…

I will never feel successful if success means putting up my feet and feeling satisfied. I don't work that way. I will only feel successful for small moments, like when I solve a huge problem in my company or when we avert trouble: when we can turn around a failing operation or stay afloat in spite of falling stock prices. Personally, I could be working in a behind-the-scenes managerial position in a company that I cared about and even if my salary was not great I would be successful because every day I…
high school years, I was encouraged by my father to take responsibility for my own tuition. Along with for-profit employment with several companies during this year, I also served my community by working as a volunteer since the age of thirteen. I did this because of the feeling I have that society tends to forget human compassion in the race for money and possessions. This is a trend that I find worrying, and I am attempting to in my own way make a difference both to this trend and to society. The difference I feel I have made does not extend only to the persons I have served through my volunteer work, however. I brought my business and accounting skills to the welfare organization with which I was affiliated in Taipei: the Creation Social Welfare Foundation.

My school and professional career speaks for itself in terms of my ambition and work ethic. I am very ambitious and will stop at nothing to achieve my goals. This is a paradigm my father taught me through his insistence that I pay my own tuition at high school. Paying for my own education has brought home to me the importance of making a success of my school work. I have learned this at a younger age than most people.
This is also evident in my current activities: During 2005 for example I have been involved in several research projects including an analysis for Johnson & Johnson Pharmacia, Inc. The purpose of this project was to create a new corporation strategy and construction plan in potential markets. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, I am preparing for a CFA level one exam to be completed in June 2006.
These attitudes will then accompany me to Georgetown as I enroll for the MBA program. I look forward to seeing both the institution and my fellow students as partners in benefiting the economy and the world through the acquisition of the skills I need to fulfill my goals.
DiSC Profile: 3-Year and 7-Year Plans
Taking the DiSC personality profile and revisiting my future plans in light of the results was an interesting and informative exercise. The results of my DiSC profile revealed some aspects of my personality that I was familiar with, and some that I did not know were so strong. The fact that I have a Conscientious-Steady management style focused on Objectivity and Reliability shapes my future trajectory within Strategic Consulting, leading me to focus on more technical fields like engineering, biotechnology, architecture, and risk management. I see myself using my MBA in one of these fields in a sustainable, long-term position that is an organizational keystone.
Over the next three years, I will earn my MBA and move to an entry-level position in Strategic Consulting. Although this industry will challenge my need for stability by providing near-constant change in terms of the projects and problems…
