I will strive to increase the level of public health literacy, using virtual resources. For example, a hospital or nursing school website can offer useful health-related information that can be accessed by the public. Information might include simple steps that people can take to improve their health, such as what ages patients should be tested for common ailments.
When communicating on an individual level to patients and students, I would like to use technological sources of health information in an effective manner and direct patients and students to sources of legitimate and appropriate health-related information online.
Having sound knowledge of the use of technology in gathering health-related information is essential. There are many new ways that patients can track their own health data using technology. Healthcare providers can also use technology to access a wider range of patient health data. A nursing educator must keep abreast of current technology.
Being able to use electronic resources for nursing research to improve the quality of information dissemination in classes will be of vital importance in the future of nursing education.

Students and patients alike will expect that their teachers will have a broad, in-depth range of knowledge about new technology in the field of heath informatics.
The organization offers information about 'best practices' in healthcare technology, such as how to protect patient privacy in the online age. Medical ethics and best practices will no doubt be a topic of debate in many of the classes I will teach in the future, whether I am educating future nurses or patients.
The organization offers continuing education resources in the field of health technology. Keeping one's education current is essential, as healthcare computer systems are constantly changing and improving.
Members can attend conferences, and interact with nurses from a wide variety of backgrounds, thus broadening my framework of knowledge and allowing me to network and connect with my nursing peers in a variety of areas of specialization.
