The question is why? Why are criminals who refused to obey the law allowed to access these programs and tax funded benefits?
The end result of undocumented immigrants being allowed to gain access to government programs has been a serious increase in the number of illegal immigrants flooding the nation. It is a never ending circle. Illegal immigrants are allowed benefits, which draws more illegal immigrants to come to America seeking those benefits (Cohn, 2005).
Research indicates there are currently more illegal immigrants in this nation than there are legalized immigrants (Cohn, 2005).
The third reason to deny benefits to those who are in America illegally is that it is not fair to those who have done it the right way. There are many immigrants in America that came through the proper channels. They filed the proper paperwork, waited for their appointments, kept their appointments, followed the requirements and moved here to start a new life. CONCLUSION
Allowing illegal immigrants to gain access to government programs is wrong in every aspect of American life. People who break the law should not be rewarded. People who have done it right should be rewarded for that effort. The cost of supporting illegal immigrants in government programs is estimated to be over a billion dollars a year. That money could be used to improve medical care for legal residents, help offset the current social security issues, or help pay for programs for residents to better their lives and get off the welfare doles. The ability to collect benefits here, without documentation has been a contributing factor to the influx of illegal immigration and the time has come to stop it for good.
